Gensler’s Post

Infocomm is the largest conference and trade show for the latest advances in immersive, display, and audio-visual technologies. My colleagues from Gensler’s Digital Experience Design (DXD) practice Gabby Shawcross and Sam Gochman attended last week to explore the newest cutting-edge technology and identify creative opportunities.   Here are a few things we at Gensler are inspired to add to our creative toolbox:   AI & Personalization: While AI isn’t new, it was top of mind for attendees. The potential for generative AI and LLMs to create content or personalized journeys in real-time can make spaces more accessible for people and encourage repeat visits. Experiences can be personalized and distinct for each person and can be created instantaneously based on their behaviors and engagement as they progress through a space. This might mean immediate translation in a museum, or unique imagery, or personalized recommendations in retail.     Multisensory / Non-visual technologies: Digital experiences extend beyond the screens! We saw several multi-sensory technologies that were extremely impactful, especially around spatial and directional audio. We have the technology to direct specific sounds to an individual, direct audio at specific angles, or send audio in different languages to different sides of a room with a seamless transition.   And of course…More Options in Display Technology: We saw an incredible variety of options for display tech, each with unique applications and specifications. The sheer scale, granularity, and range of products available — high fidelity LED screens to interactive OLEDs to bendable or perforated surfaces — reinforced to our team that we have more available than ever before to create tailored experiences that elegantly elevate MEDIA AS MATERIAL in the built environment. This is just the tip of the iceberg of what we saw at Infocomm this year. With more tools to bring digital experiences to life, we’re inspired to make some magic happen.

Good to see Gabby hydrating while he caffinates.
