Congratulation to the GE Vernova/GEH elite TEAM. With respect to Leading BWRX-300, as part of Periodic Update of my Largest Privately held Power Plants DATABASE, I re-visted two (2) Important Quotes from the well-respected CEO/President of GEH*: [1] BWRX-300 DESIGN " By innovating in order to take COST OUT in areas like simplification of systems, advanced concreate solutions and construction techniques, the BWRX-300 is designed to provide zero-carbon, reliable and dispatchable power when needed AT THE RIGHT PRICE" [Emphasis added] [2] COST-COMPETITIVE "..nuclear STILL has to earn its seat at the table and to do that it's GOT TO BE COST-COMPETITIVE. In addition, you have to have CERTAINTY of outcome around that in both COST AND TIME". [Emphasis Added] * It was indeed an honor to have worked under his great Leadership. IF I MAY SUGGEST The Leading SMR Suppliers should consider sharing** "Definitive" Type of Cost Estimates and "Bill of Materials (BOQs) to demonstrate Reliability; Accuracy; and Credibility.! Simply put, by providing just $/KWe and/or Cost in Round Numbers (in billion) seems inadequate in Today's world for the Success of NEW Nuclear.! I think Utilities/Industries; PUCs/PSCs and the Rate Payers should seek above required Assurances.! ** Potential concerns related to the "Confidentiality/Competitiveness" could still be reasonably protected as needed. #DATABASE(1970-2024)

The Environment Agency, Cyfoeth Naturiol Cymru / Natural Resources Wales and the Office for Nuclear Regulation (UK nuclear regulators) have started a 2-step Generic Design Assessment (GDA) on Holtec International’s Small Modular Reactor SMR-300 design. This follows a request from the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero to carry out the GDA following a review of Holtec International’s application. Holtec International’s design is a 300 MWe Pressurised Water Reactor. Preparations to begin the GDA have been completed, including signing agreements with the company that enables the regulators to recover their costs for this work.   The regulators are now carrying out Step 1 of GDA. Step 1 is the preparatory part of the design assessment process where we make agreements with the company and provide advice on the scope and the information they are submitting for GDA. As part of this step we will carry out a review of Holtec’s management arrangements and will confirm if appropriate arrangements have been put in place for successful delivery of the GDA process.   The company has requested a 2 Step GDA. A 2 Step GDA will result in a fundamental assessment of the design features and publication of a Step 2 statement which will contain our views and whether we have any fundamental issues with the design. The comments process for this GDA will open at the beginning of Step 2. A date for this will be set during Step 1 and will provide the opportunity for the public and other stakeholders to have their say on the design.   We will seek to align our assessment processes where possible with Holtec’s programme to ensure effective, efficient and timely progress of the GDA. The next step is for the company and the regulators to agree timescales for the submission of the first set of technical documents for assessment, and to agree the scope of the GDA. These discussions will start immediately and we expect our technical assessments to begin in 2024. Being announced as a successful bidder, later this year, will allow immediate investment in the UK supply chain. Each Rolls-Royce SMR can power a million UK homes for 60 years - supplying clean, affordable electricity for generations to come while supporting thousands of long-term, highly skilled jobs. Rolls-Royce SMR has also welcomed the agreement between Polish industrial group, Industria, and UK-based Chiltern Vital Group (CVG) to collaborate on international projects to deliver low-carbon energy using Rolls-Royce SMR technology. In 2023, after working with Rolls-Royce SMR for over two years, Industria selected Rolls-Royce Small Modular Reactor (SMR) technology to fulfil the zero-emission energy goals of the Central Hydrogen Cluster in Poland as part of their plans to produce 50,000 tonnes of low-carbon hydrogen every year. With its partners - including the University of Bristol, and Rolls Royce SMR - CVG intends to create a world-first net zero and nuclear technologies campus.
