🌍 BASF Coatings colleagues joined a group of key industry stakeholders in February for an industry meeting at TÜV Rheinland in Cologne, Germany to explore long-term solutions to establish and raise the overall sustainability standards to benefit the industry. 🤝 The objective of the meeting was to reach a consensus on a unified approach that would benefit all players in the industry, with the aim of launching an independent standard for the entire collision repair industry starting with the German market as an initial focus with aim to introduce the standard globally. 🌱 "At BASF, we are actively promoting sustainability through our products and digital solutions, enabling our customers to make more informed and responsible decisions. Transformation on the way How can we transform our business? What can we do to further de-carbonize production processes? Which green products can really be successful in today’s markets? These are questions that are on the minds of many of us in German industry – and this is why the exchange with customers, partners and industry peers is so important. Only when we put our thoughts together we’ll be able to achieve greater sustainability and more climate friendliness.   Together with Andreas Weisheit, Head of Business Unit Industrial Gases at Westfalen, I’ve recently returned from a visit to the production plant of our customer BENTELER in Lingen, Germany, where the company recycles metal and produces environmentally friendly steel on this basis. The BENTELER Group is one of Westfalen’s most important customers in the industrial gases sector. We supply BENTELER at 11 different locations with gases produced directly at some of these locations as well as with deliveries in cylinders and in bulk. At our air separation plant in Hörstel near Osnabrück, for example, we are supplying BENTELER with liquid oxygen as well as argon.   During the plant tour, I had the chance to talk about further energy transformation steps in steel production with BENTELER Group CEO Ralf Göttel, with BENTELER Steel/Tube COO Thomas Michels, and with BENTELER Steel/Tube VP for Procurement Robert Snijder. It was great to hear their thoughts and ideas and to see that particularly with the energy source hydrogen, there are lots of exciting possibilities. Wittur Group, the Germany-based international #elevator components supplier, has unveiled a new international supplier management platform powered by JAGGAER #cloudbased #businessautomation #technology. Centrally enabling online management of key supplier base information, the portal is available in five languages and already includes approximately 4,000 suppliers covering more than 100 product categories. The new platform also supports risk-assessment analysis through dedicated scorecards, which #Wittur observes is critical to the decision-making process. "The digitalization journey encompasses document management related to suppliers, down to the management of contracts and framework agreements," Wittur states. One of the next steps for the platform is to integrate activities Wittur currently performs to track compliance with key environmental, social and governance, or #ESG, criteria for all key suppliers. #EWI #elevatorindustry #internationalnews
