Tis' the season of giving! ASPIRE at C&W has committed to raise $5K for Feeding America as we want to close the gap on food insecurity. Due to the model minority myth, Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders are often overlooked for food insecurity. Based on the research Feeding America has conducted here in some quick stats on the gap ASPIRE is committed to helping close: - An estimated 6% of Asian Americans are food insecure. That's 1 in 17 people who identify as Asian American. - An estimated 17% of Pacific Islanders are food insecure. That's 1 in 6 people who identify as Pacific Islanders. Your dollar is even more powerful this season because for every dollar up to $5K, C&W has committed to match our efforts, so your $1 becomes $2! Please help us in reaching our goal, and if you are unable to donate, please repost because the further our reach, the more chances we have to give together. Andrew Fu Ricky Z. Text MOH24 to 76278 What is this and why should you care? Today was the annual Menu of Hope fundraiser luncheon, and this is how you can donate. ...okay, what is Menu of Hope and why should you care? https://lnkd.in/guc_44Cu Menu of Hope is hosted by Children's Hunger Alliance, a statewide nonprofit; an organization that has been dedicated to a war on food insecurity in Ohio since the 1970s. Their mission is to ensure that children without access receive healthy food, nutrition education and physical activity. I don't fault you if you don't walk through life thinking about how many kids in our own backyards go day by day, unsure of where their next meal comes from. I hadn't thought of it in a long time myself; that is until I had the privilege and honor of working with Children's Hunger Alliance. Now it's one of those things that keeps me awake at night, and it's what drives me every day to do as best of a job as I can to provide them with an application solution that can scale with their ambitions. But to be clear, it's 1 in 5 kids. 1 in 5 children in Ohio don't know whether or not they are going to go to bed hungry. Children's Hunger Alliance serves thousands of Ohioan children in an effort to combat hunger annually. But as I said, they are a nonprofit, and they rely on our help, the Ohioan community, to continue this battle. So if you have a couple spare bucks to give today, you can text that number at the top of my post. I believe it's open until the end of the day. If you want to give later on, or you want to keep it in the back of your mind, bookmark this link. https://lnkd.in/gQgjAYii I have the privilege of getting a glimpse into their operations, and I know that every dollar given is a dollar that truly counts. You may not know me, and I might not know you; but many of those who are going to see this post live in Ohio; so give some thought about taking care of our kids. Thanks for listening to my Ted talk.

June is National Hunger Awareness month, with "more than 34 million people, including 9 million children, in the United States who are struggling with hunger", according to SaveTheChildren.org. At Grocery Dealz, part of our Christian driven mission, is too help those struggling with hunger or food insecurity. Even if we can help just one family stretch their grocery bill a bit further to alleviate their hunger insecurity; then it would be all worth it! https://lnkd.in/gJAVJDrb

Beyond Sustenance: Meet Organic Soul In the bustling heart of our community, a group called Organic Soul thrives. A beacon of compassion and resilience. Their journey commenced with a resolute purpose: to harness their skills and bridge the gap for those facing food poverty. They support the homeless with hot meals, clothing, and sleeping bags – more than sustenance, it’s a lifeline. But their reach extends further. During periods of hardship, families receive weekly food hampers to help when people may need to choose between heating their home and feeding their family. Refugees and asylum seekers also find solace at Organic Soul. While they may grapple with isolation and uncertainty, they receive not only nourishment but also a sense of belonging. This is why donations and acts of kindness are so important. It’s as simple as attending a comedy night or maybe purchasing a tombola ticket. But, you help to sustain a network of communities with unique backgrounds and vibrant stories.

We know that in an emergency, timing is crucial. Inequality continues to rise around the world. Increasingly unequal and fragile food systems—and the added pressures of conflict and climate change—have led to over 800 million hungry people globally. This number hasn't stopped growing over the past 3 years. Children are the most affected. When disaster strikes, food and clean water are needed the most. Giving Tuesday is less than two weeks away, and our goal is to collect funds for 1,000 emergency food packages for children. All CARE Gifts of emergency food for a child will be MATCHED by a generous donor.
