As our city continues to grow towards a population of over 9 million by 2050, we have an opportunity now to collectively explore research data that may help us collectively steer a course to maintain our enviable reputation of being a liveable and loveable destination to visit, do business or call home. Next week GHD will dive into our global research exploring intergenerational equity through an infrastructure lens. Viewed from multi-generational perspectives, we will learn from other jurisdictions about global concerns of balancing sustainability aspirations, cost of living pressures and transportation challenges. We are trying to spread the word about Hugh Brandt and I (Bob Varney) do at Cities Project Global. We desire to awaken, equip and unleash leaders to serve the kingdom of God in ways most Christians may miss. Our new book The Intersection: Faith, Work, and Life is a broad introduction for Christians who want to understand the Faith & Work space -- namely, how can I productively and kindly bring my faith to work and actually to everything I do. The book is on Amazon. I imagine you will find it helpful.
If you're new to Cities Project Global, here's some of the backstory from our founder, Bob Varney. We're looking forward to tomorrow's community gathering to talk more about The Intersection, Bob's new book with Hugh Brandt. We hope you'll join us. Link to register in the comments.

I love this article (thank you Amy Daroukakis for sharing). It feels like a lot of people, in Paris and elsewhere, are trying to knit local communities back together after decades of those connections weakening. Partly, it’s about improving quality of life (in Paris it sounds like they are leading with cheese). But, as the article says, stronger local communities are also a way to build social resilience and take on problems like climate action together. At hidden strategy, we’re looking at what stronger communities might mean for businesses. For example, in insurance, could they lead to lower claims? If so, how could insurers help create the right conditions for that to happen? And, in the energy industry, how could local groups be involved in a shift to a smarter grid? We’re also exploring how communities work in smarter cities. Timothy Pape has spent the last three years studying Songdo, a smart city in South Korea and it’s quite clear that technological interventions don’t always work out as planned. Designing with a participatory and community perspective in mind helps figure our potential benefits and risks before they happen. Do get in touch if you would like to chat or organise a workshop.
