As human beings we want to be part of the solution, we want to help. For those who are in a leadership role that desire is heightened. Unfortunately, some may even take advantage of it and declare authority and power over you. Leaders, we thank you for your guidance and help, that's why we come to you, but you don't always need to be the superhero, the saving grace, the savior, or the redeemer every time there is a problem. Using the words from Scott Kirby, CEO of United Airlines, "...not every decision is [yours] to make. More often than not, the wisest decision is to delegate the decision-making process to someone who is equally, if not more, well-informed on the matter." If you trust your teammates or want to build trust, trust they know how to do their job. You can watch from afar so you aren't left in the dark and if things go south or potentially go that way you can prevent it. Competition is key..

I’ve been a loyal Air Canada elite member for years now, but today made me start questioning it. I respect US pilots a lot. They go on the PA system and in detail describe why your flight is delayed. Why don’t Air Canada and other Canadian airline pilots do the same? Because this Liberal government lets airlines avoid paying out compensation due to vague “safety” reasons. If Canadian air carriers will insist on a monopoly so they can continue to underserve the small communities they claim their monopoly protects - they should at least try to give Canadian consumers the best value possible. Time for Canadian air carriers to smarten up. Or it’s time to finally open up the skies to competition.
