#InspiringDarren & #InspiredbyDarren At 5pm on 31st January 2019 I left my job and my previous life behind to start a new life. By this, I mean...I'd -build the life I wanted to live in where I could choose to put into my life what I wanted to experience -NOT depend on a job or pension for my only source of income -unlearn and learn what was required do I could create an income from my property investing business, through buying, refurbishing & letting out properties that would be affordable homes for my tenants To learn what I thought I wanted to learn, I invested in learning, education & training from a range of providers, so that I could be great at what I wanted to do, in business and I could choose to put into my time In September 2019, I was at a bi-annual training & networking event with one a training provider that I'd invested in, #ProgressiveProperty..the biggest property training provider in UK and the last speaker of the weekend was Darren Grigas What he shared was amazing, including those words he asked to a question in relation to his trek with Sir Ranulph Fiennes across Antarctica " Just take one step at a time" Heres a summary of Darren from The 1st Place- Darren’s turning point from his regular 9-5 job and average goals came following a car accident which left permanent damage to his back, but fortunately not severe enough to hold him back. This triggered a desire to make the most of every day and he went on to pursue running, which led to more extreme adventures, starting with a race dubbed as the toughest footrace on Earth. When I heard him speak, I thought, -Wow.. inspiring -if I do write a book, it'd be great to interview Darren AND so, what I thought,did materialise a few years later. I did ask him if he'd like to be interviewed and he said "YES"🙏 Daren loves making a difference in people's lives and he continues to inspire people through making a positive difference to others by passing on his experiences, and providing opportunities for others to push their limits on my retreats and at the Forest Facility Adventure Centre (launched in Spring 2023). AND Heres a little of what Darren shared in The 1st Place book series His favourite saying is "You don’t have to go fast, or far, just go" A key learning in life that he shared is "• Knowledge is for keeps, so invest in yourself, you are your greatest asset" AND to question 2 in volume 1 What happens when I start learning and realise there’s more I don’t know than I do know, or that there’s too much to learn? His answer Break it down into bite-size chunks. There’s always going to be more to learn, but that applies to everything in life. Try to narrow down what you can do in your first six months or first year. Don’t get overwhelmed by a million different property strategies. Take on one to start with, and focus on the fundamentals. Ignore all the other stuff that’s distracting and overwhelming focus on that.
