🔎 30m posts/comments scanned ❌ 2.6m abusive comments hidden ❗️ 30,883 instances of abusive content reported Launched ahead of the 2022 #FIFAWorldCup in Qatar, FIFA’s Social Media Protection Service has helped players, coaches, officials and teams to keep their social feeds free from online abuse, allowing them to enjoy taking part in FIFA’s events.   Since #Qatar2022, the FIFA Social Media Protection Service has hidden 2.6m abusive comments across 11 FIFA competitions.   This is an on-going service which FIFA invests in to achieve the widest possible coverage. Earlier this year, FIFA extended access to the Social Media Protection Service to all 211 of its member associations, ensuring protective measure are offered to teams regardless of whether they will qualify for FIFA tournaments or not.

Great effort by FIFA, without a doubt we are facing the challenge of turning around the negative impact social media has. Sadly we still live in a society were negative comments create more interactions than the ripple effect that positive comments could create. Hopefully this can be reverted with these kind of iniciatives.
