As a researcher, I believe in celebrating diversity and fostering inclusivity across all fields. Today, I am delighted to introduce this endeavor - a series dedicated to highlighting the groundbreaking work of women in research. Research is not just about discovering new facts it's about challenging boundaries, pioneering innovation, and shaping the future. Yet, the achievements of women in this realm often go unrecognized. It's time to change that narrative. Throughout this series, the aim is to highlight the stories, triumphs, and challenges of women researchers from diverse backgrounds and disciplines. From STEM to social sciences, from academia to industry, their journeys are as diverse as the discoveries they make. 📈 Only 59 percent of our survey respondents* believe that women have the same opportunities to succeed in the technology industry as men. Less than half of women believe in equal opportunities, while nearly 70 percent of men think so. The work must go on. The Millennium Technology Prize exists to inspire and promote equality and diversity within technology and science that creates a better life around the world. The share of women within a male dominated science and technology community must be increased. Resources are wasted if women are not involved in working towards a better world. When we ensure that diverse people build innovations and technological solutions, they become more accessible globally and are adopted by different communities and societies. 🏆 The picture shows the only female winner of the Prize so far, Frances Arnold, who invented directed evolution. We look forward to seeing more female winners in the future. February 11: International Day of Women and Girls in Science. On this day, we want to share the example of Alice Kirchner, who drives technological innovation in a traditionally 'male' field, manufacturing, with great success. It's a way to once again remember the significant contribution that women, like men, have been able to bring and will continue to bring every day to the world of science and innovation, of which we have always been aware. In our workforce, in fact, there are many women engaged in significant roles in the field of research and development, and overall female figures in our organization represent 42% compared to the 31% industry average in the IT world, a figure we aim to see increase even more. #diversityandinclusion #bezucchetti

Women are still underrepresented in these areas. In the EU the proportion of women working in R&D was only 33,7 % in 2021 (source: https://lnkd.in/gdagmnA7). Today, we celebrate the strength, courage, and achievements of women everywhere. While International Women's Day is a time to celebrate women's achievements, it's also a reminder of the progress yet to be made. Women continue to face inequality and discrimination in various aspects of life, and it's crucial that we recognise and address these challenges. Today we highlight Swati Aggarwal, a talented researcher at MAX IV Laboratory, who exemplifies the fact that women are built for excellence. Her contributions in materials science, highlights the innovation that makes Skåne a global hub for science and technology.
