I don't like that LinkedIn now encourages people to use LinkedIn AI for enhancing their profiles and creating content. I don't come to LinkedIn to read AI, I want to read only human content.
I value content from my trusted network and maybe the next few degrees of separation via LinkedIn for their experience and perspective. I have observed some, with a relatively lesser social media footprint, begin to develop content more frequently with mixed results - and in some cases, that content I have a perceived lower value of simply because I don’t know that they put much more thought into it beyond the initial prompts and spell check. At that point it is hard to discern the value beyond the waterfall of other spam and have unfollowed them. Maybe that perspective evolves over time, but for now, adding to the white noise of endless posts is a step backward.
Now, everything is AI-generated. (Expect my comment) 😁
LinkedIn is a raging product failure. They don't really care about user experience. Everything is about maximizing time on the site and in the feed. From stupid things like penalizing posts with external links to their inability to construct lists, they get so much wrong that it's hilarious. But when you mostly care about advertising and recruiting revenue, UX is not a primary concern. Vivek Wadhwa and I wrote about this a year go. Literally nothing has changed. https://fortune.com/2023/08/16/linkedin-uniquely-positioned-benefit-twitter-meltdown-disgruntled-x-users-offering-microsoft-blueprint-social-media-supremacy-wadhwa-salkever/
I am pretty sure I've seen entirely fake LI profiles that are likely also AI generated... I am guessing that many conversations will go back to off-line or on-line-synchronous for folks who want the human connection and not a transactional interaction on marginally relevant content.
Paul English So true, I mean sure in parts AI on Linkedin can be useful but the very essence of a BIO should be that its authentic, unique and personal, with aI this can't be the case and when you see words being repeatably used by AI e.g "Nestled" or "in conclusion" "moreover" "notably" etc etc you just know theres AI DNA there. We want to know who people really are not a computer programmed version of someone. I think you raise a very important point here. Lets keep AI out of personal BIOs to ensure the integrity of networks.
I think what you're looking for is a conversation over coffee. Me too. As it stands, AI can't overshadow the human voice in front of you. If the AI is used to enhance the human touch, its a win. Its at its worst when its the author of the content entirely though its highly likely that will change. It will probably become indistinguishable at some point.
Agreed, AI content is the “motel art” of social media. I come here to see what people are doing not how much post volume they can produce.
No worries, posts with grammar possessive form used instead of plural are undoubtedly human-written.
I've tried the "enhance with AI" on my posts a couple times when it first came out. Smashed that revert button so very fast... just made me sound goofy, haha.
