This shows how completely bonkers it is to market your product or service to everyone... nothing fell into the sales jar. 😭 If your marketing is falling flat, if you're marketing to everyone, you need my help. If you're interested in business stats, I'd recommend you get a copy of the Beauhurst Local Growth Index. There's so much doom and gloom around business and yet, the stats, certainly in Lincolnshire tell a different story. Across my local councils, the number of active companies is up, turnover is up (+36% in my area West Lindsey compared to +23% across the UK), and number of employees are up too. There's still work to do... director gender balance is bollox and equity fundraising has dropped, but it's good to track companies that have environmental, social and governance signals in their work such as green infrastructure, clean and renewable energy, pay equality, or age diversity of directors. This supports some thought provoking questions for when I work with senior teams as they form a strategy for growth. Head on over to their website and get a copy of the report. Great way to round off the week with some fab feedback from Courtney Rose and Greg Colclough (thank you both) following a talk I gave on how to transform marketing in a real (and changing) world. It boils my blood that so many people waste their time and money on marketing that will never work because they've not done the first steps. Instead, they've 'just' sent that email out, or 'just' posted that graphic on social media, which will never work as well as it could if the first steps had been done. The name Business Bollox makes people laugh. Yup, just saying it grabs attention, and brings a smile and laugh to most people. For sure there are some people that think it's unprofessional, and that's ok... but for others it helps accelerate our connection, it makes us look less stuffy, unconventional, even more approachable. And here's a little bit on why that is... in making people laugh with a quirky, laugh-inducing business name, I've triggered them to release all sorts of happy hormones into their systems... whoop!
