My keynote address at the University of Copenhagen earlier today. Main takeaway: the use of AI and technology can significantly improve the functioning of our tax systems. But, (a) it carries significant risks, and (b) it is not a substitute for tax reform So, we need to acknowledge the risks, and ensure that proper legal guarantees are in place. A new job and all is great, but have you felt the joy of completing your Income Tax Returns filing? That's the real deal. 🙌 So I did my filing this last weekend and the Behavioural Scientist in me couldn't help but think why is this such a scary process. 😨 For the longest time, people have always been asking me what a Behavioural Science Audit of a product is. And so, in the spirit of taking action, I decided to do a Behavioural Audit of the Tax filings process i.e. identify barriers users face and find soft behavioural science ways of making the process easier for users. To be clear, the Returns process is already infinite times better than it was before and not saying Behavioural Science can solve everything, but hey, why not make it simpler? This is my first video.
