“Shellman is isolated from most of the largest cities around it. People would have to travel for miles just to get quality products. The reason I advocated for Dollar General coming to Shellman was because there was a real need,” shared Georgia Senator Freddie Powell Sims. At the core of our real estate strategy is a commitment to serving our communities. We believe the addition of each new Dollar General store presents positive economic growth for the communities we proudly serve, providing job opportunities, additional tax revenue and more. By engaging with community leaders such as in Shellman, GA, we’re ensuring each store aligns with local needs. The oil and gas sector contributes about £25 billion a year to the UK economy, supporting around 200,000 UK jobs, many of which are under threat from potential Government policies. Today we are proud to share 'A Town Called Bruce', a film, made with Brindex and the GMB Union, shedding light on the hopes and fears of some of our colleagues who work on our Bruce platform. These stories have parallels on many other platforms and with many other families. #ATownCalledBruce The film can be viewed on our website https://lnkd.in/ekmdiQHc

This is excellent. Please take 10 mins out of your day to watch this clip which captures the concerns and feelings of workers on the Bruce platform - feelings that are echoed right across UK Oil and Gas installations. This governments plans will have dire consequences for workers and our communities. They need to start listening and it needs to be now - they need to deliver a homegrown energy transition which delivers energy security, good jobs and economic benefits for our communities as we head to net zero. Choose a homegrown transition.

In case you have not seen this, please have a watch and listen. The energy sector is involved, interlinked, interdependent, international, in-transition, and, in the UK, is in-a-mess. There is a fundamental lack of understanding of these factors, and more. "In-a-mess" does not describe the situation adequately. The UK energy sector supports jobs and communities the length and breadth of the UK - 200,000 to be specific, not to mention £20 billion to the UK economy. 80% of our homes are heated by natural gas, yet we are about to go over a cliff edge - the supply chain cannot survive without continued investment in projects, and without our supply chain energy transition in its fullest sense is a fantasy. Please visit Offshore Energies UK and read their insightful reports, content and fully understand the factors we face. They explain things far, far better than me. Many don't realise, for example, that the carbon intensity of LNG imports from overseas is FOUR TIMES that of UK gas production. And home produced gas supports our economy, jobs, companies, attracts investment and is a force for good. Of course we need to continue our energy transition, but it is not the flick of a switch! Companies like Apollo are driving the energy transition, with 45% of our work outside of oil and gas. But 55% of our work supports that sector, in work reducing emissions, capturing carbon, improving processes and efficiency. The list goes on. And the pioneering work this supply chain does is directly transferring into work in "green" energy vectors. Driving new technology, upskilling, creating economic growth and stimulating investment, creating jobs, and positvely impacting the lives of our people and our communities. I am passionate about the energy sector, proud of the work we do in the oil and gas sector for clients like Serica Energy plc, and proud of the work we do in energy transition. But SME's like mine are reliant on a fair, homegrown, energy transition, in order to keep doing the great work we do across all favours of energy. Choose life. Choose a job. Choose a career. Choose your family, Choose your future - Choose the UK Energy industry. Serica Energy plc Offshore Energies UK

The oil and gas sector plays a pivotal role for society. First and foremost the oil and gas industry is essential for energy security. It provides a reliable and consistent source of energy. Without this industry, we would face significant challenges in meeting the UK energy needs leading to shortages and instability. The economic contributions of the oil and gas sector have been a bedrock for the UK economy contributing significantly to government revenues enabling investment in education, healthcare etc. As we look towards a sustainable future the sector will be crucial in the energy transition. But let’s be under no illusion the transition will take time and oil and gas as the government has said will be needed for decades to come. So it’s completely nonsensical for the government to create policies which not only risk our energy security currently, but also our children’s energy security and indeed their future standard of living. Furthermore, these policies threaten the livelihood’s of the very people who help us stay safe and warm at night. We will become an import nation at the mercy of others. Our world class supply chain and people will move internationally. The United Kingdom used to be a super power…. no super power would rely on others for energy. Watch this video and share with your friends, family and colleagues. Choose a homegrown energy, support the men and women that can make it happen. #homegrownenergy #energytransition #energysecurity #apache #treasury #labour #energy #government #society #jobs #protectourcommunities
