We've had the privilege of designing a few meaningful early literacy programs, and one crucial lesson we've gleaned is the importance of practice with immediate feedback for building reading fluency. Fun is the special sauce that gets kids to keep on practicing. Clever Noodle's latest game, POPPED! available today, embodies this principle perfectly: Players get tons of engaging practice thru engaging, social gameplay. Use the code below for a 15% discount on your own copy. While you're checking out, consider grabbing another copy for your school or as a gift for the young readers in your life. With its no-tech, high-fun approach, Clever Noodle's board game is a definite win-win!
Popped! is now available! For our special community, we are giving you a 15% discount TODAY to celebrate (use POPPED!15 at checkout). Don’t miss out! No game needed, donate one for low-income children. https://lnkd.in/e_v7z_EN

Last week, my family spent a couple of days up north helping my husband, Don Riedthaler and the Ignite Northwest team, in their company’s test kitchen make and package meals for hungry kids. Between Don and I having worked decades in the restaurant industry, owning a restaurant of our own and having Don (aka Dad) as the primary cook at home, we have an abundance of food surrounding us, especially around the holidays. It felt so good (thanks to the powerful happiness hormone, oxytocin) to spent time in service to others. In the process, I noticed 3 benefits that parallel the neuroscience research in this article written by Brian de Lottinville https://lnkd.in/ggG4wUY3 1. Synergy 2. Cooperation 3. Connectedness More benefits observed: 1. Empathy 2. Laughter and play 3. Conversation 4. Future strategic planning and decision making It’s no wonder companies invest in team building where bonds can be formed. Though, upon reflection, the experience of helping others (for me) trumped some of the more prescriptive team building activities I’ve witnessed or participated in (karaoke bars, and escape rooms come to mind). What has your experience with team building been, and what are the possibilities for designing these opportunities with others in mind? If neuroscience fascinates you too, check out this article by Ritvo who writes about the neurochemical drivers of happiness: Dopamine, serotonin, and oxytocin make up the Happiness Trifecta in this article: https://lnkd.in/gqrX5QDA
Director of Sales And Business Development @ Ignite Foodservice Solutions | Leading Sales Operations
#hungry #children - Two words that should never go together! Did you know that 1 in 8 children in #washingtonstate face hunger every day. None of those children make the choice to be hungry… Ignite Northwest prides ourselves in doing our part and giving back to our community, and this year we partnered up with Shawn Walton and #StLeosParrish with a commitment of 100 prepared meals…but little did we know that when we asked some of our local business partners like Jeff Winter w/CMA, who donated $500! and Jason Wirth with Bargreen Ellingson who donated a SUV full of to-go packaging and apple juice, we would be pushed to make more than 100 meals. Inspired by Jeff’s donation, I personally matched his gift and we now had $1,000 towards to purchase of food and supplies to make over 300 MEALS!!! A special shout out to the team at Ignite, specifically Ryan Devereaux who donated two days of his time to help make these delicious meals, and my wife Janell Payne and our family who also pitched in to help out! We are now devoted to make this an annual event and next year, stay tuned as our next #goal is 500 meals between #thanksgiving and #christmas #givingback #foodserviceequipment #foodbusiness #hunger #childrenshealth #foodbanks

Friends, colleagues, network: TL;DR: DONATE and RE-SHARE! It’s that time when I invite you to open your wallet to an incredible organisation - Alexandra Rose Charity - ARC for short. Basically ARC gives out food vouchers, issued to parents (and other carers) of under 5’s who need them. They are spendable at street markets (and similar venues depending on the project) on fruit and veg. Better than a food bank, parents get to choose what they buy which comes with a certain dignity. The money goes to the stall holders and to their families - and so the money goes round and round there is evidence each pound creates 6 pounds of value. Families who get the vouchers will tend to do the rest of their shopping at the same market / stall, and that food is cheaper, better, healthier than the big chains too. So the markets thrive and add value to their communities. Think Ridley road market. Chrisp street market. North End Road market. Right? Isn’t this cool? There is a fundraiser RIGHT NOW. Click here https://buff.ly/49Zwz9F and drop a few quid / a few tens of quid / a few hundred quid. Get involved.
Our CEO, Jonathan Pauling, launched our Big Give Christmas fundraising campaign yesterday; here's a snippet of why we need to raise £80k this week so we can continue to help families on low incomes put healthy, fresh meals on the table for their young children. ⭐ Please donate if you’re able to do so: https://buff.ly/49Zwz9F ⭐ #ChristmasChallenge23
