“Institutions are beefing up career services staffs and budgets, promoting career directors to the highest levels of leadership and offering career advising to students from the time they put down their first-year deposits. At least one university has upgraded “career preparation” onto its list of four core strategic priorities. In some states and systems, public funding also has begun to be tied to students’ career success. The budget of the Texas State Technical College system, for example, is based in part on how much graduates earn above the minimum wage. As if to underscore this new priority, a growing number of colleges and universities are moving their career services operations directly under presidents’ offices or high up elsewhere on the organizational chart, a NACE report found. That’s a strong signal that helping graduates find jobs has become a top priority, said Norma Guerra Gaier, who took over this fall as head of the newly expanded career center at Washington University, with the title of associate vice chancellor.” https://trtm.me/3GgreNo

Thank you to the core DEI Think Tank for another great discussion. As we delve into the impact of the SCOTUS ruling and the end of Affirmative Action there was a lot great insight that was unpacked from today's conversation. As a result of the original discussion last month, we have formalized a new DEI Think Tank. We would love to open up this group to our networks to continue this dialogue. Here were some of the prevailing questions that came out of today's session. Will the potential for reduced diversity in colleges and universities make HBCU recruiting more competitive? Is there an increase need for pre- college support systems? Should Corporate America grow their support of programs to enable a more diverse post-secondary environment (and therefore more diverse early career workforce)?
