I spent some time at a trade show in NYC not too long ago and I was pleasantly surprised with the conference “giveaway.” They had a photographer set up in the corner of the hallway and were taking head shots. I don’t know about you, but an updated picture, professionally done is more valaubale to me than pen, stress ball or coozie. So being a marketer most of my career I have to share my thoughts on the Bud Light controversy. I have not looked at this as a political issue as many people have…..I am boycotting Bud Light, not for it’s support of any particular customer community, but because it was dealt with in such a poor, bonehead way from a marketer’s perspective. Those of us who have been marketers know that our core audience is the crown jewel. As we try to reach extended audiences, it is never at the expense of who pays the bills. In my opinion Bud light marketing leadership forgot this marketing 101 priciple. And once the backfire started, I believe the pushback could have been minimized by not choosing to double down on the catalyst of the controversy, but rather focus on Bud Light’s inclusiveness of all potential customers but in no way ostracizing their core consumers. Instead, the first thing we heard from Bud Light’s top marketer was that they were turning away from the wrongly poritioned sport and fraternity communication strategy and embracing a new socially inclusive position. These position can exist in harmony communicated the right way. Again….I am all for inclusion and all communities of society drink beer….It just should have been done in a way more respectful to the core customers. As I read earlier this week…..This will be a case study for the next 30-40 years in college marketing courses across the country…..Always good to think through and discuss difficult marketing issues.

Good morning! I wanted to share some exciting news regarding our vsNEW startup. First, we can now test over 33 EVs, PHEV and Hybrids reaching a significant % of EVs, PHEVs and HEVs on the road today. The technology is working as expected and we continue to experiment with tactics to grow awareness and drive traffic. Excited to share information about a new venture I'm a co-founder of...vsNEW. Over the next ten years EV and Hybrid vehicle use will grow exponentially in the U.S. Currently there is little available data regarding the battery health of these vehicles.  This creates uncertainty and confusion for owners, buyers, and sellers of EVs and Hybrids…particularly for those vehicles sold in the used car market.   vsNEW EV and Hybrid Battery Health Reports bring transparency to the health condition of an EV or Hybrid vehicle.  And that information is important, particularly in the used car market, because replacing batteries in these vehicles can cost up to 80% of the car’s value. So how does it work? vsNEW technology extracts hundreds of vehicle data points directly from the battery management system through the CAN bus. This provides the most accurate and detailed information regarding an EV or Hybrid battery’s health, down to the individual cell level. This allows consumers, dealers, and auto service providers transparency to the health of the battery.  And our technology works for most OEMs …including Tesla.
