Have a listen to this in depth interview with Henry Yiu, a talented creative person and good friend.
This is my 31st interview and it is with Henry Yiu principal and creative director at “States of Matter” a marketing firm in Seattle, Washington. This is an open and honest interview as Henry describes what it was like for him and his family to immigrate from China. He discusses his school years and how he adjusted and excelled. More importantly, how he pursued a questionable career path in engineering. He shares his experiences in selecting an engineering school and finally attending Purdue University. It is an eye-opening and candid look at how someone like Henry has dealt with the uncertainties, vulnerabilities, and confusion of being on a lesser-desired career path.
Henry Yiu, I just listened to your podcast experience at Purdue and landing in the Midwest states. Thanks for sharing. I do remember your project at Cornish, in my packaging class, producing the most well-designed packages; the bamboo perfume, I believe, is one of my favourites. I'm glad you switched over to the world of design, making it a better place. You always have a thoughtful style and purpose. (that explains the engineer beginning).
