🌟 Reflecting on #MedTech MeetUp #30 | Zabrze, 28.02.2024 🌟 I had the privilege of taking part in the 30th MedTech MeetUp in Zabrze last week, where an important topic was addressed: MedTech should focus on preventing, not just curing - a principle particularly relevant to caring for our elderly. 🚶♂️💔 A highlight was eHelper's wearable-free health monitoring system. This innovative network of sensors installed in homes, designed with complex notification rules, significantly enhances senior care by offering discreet, continuous monitoring without the hassle of wearables. 🚀🔍 While eHelper's system currently requires setting intricate custom rules, the future is promising. Advancements in AI are expected to simplify this process, intuitively adapting to seniors' behaviours for comprehensive monitoring with minimal setup, ensuring their safety and comfort. 👵👴✨ AI and advanced sensors are set to redefine elderly care, making every home a safe haven. Healthcare in the Netherlands is under pressure. Waiting lists, understaffing, and limited space for patient care are the result. It comes as no suprise that the search for solutions, in which technology often plays a major role, is in full swing. In the project 'From sensors to care: Applying stress measurements with wearables in practice', Fontys ICT researchers explore the possibilities that smart devices offer to enable preventive care and timely signalling.
