Talent & People Operations @ Crossover for Work | AI-First HR Management, Organizational Design, High Volume Recruiting | Overachiever who Gets Stuff Done
My inbox is usually full of the same AI-related newsletters and irrelevant cold calls. But now and then, I get a thought-provoking email. Today's was from Noel Andrews at Jobrack. Noel talked about recognizing A-players during the hiring process. This got me thinking: is there an agreed-upon definition of an A-player, or does this vary based on your industry or company? At Crossover , we've been leveraging AI to help identify A-players globally. Here are some consistent traits we look for: - Gives and receives feedback well - Expert in their subject area, but open to new approaches - Proactive and takes initiative - Clear, concise written communicator - Consistent hard worker - Adaptable and flexible - Enthusiastic about AI and excited to experiment Interestingly, our AI-driven recruitment tools have shown that these traits are relatively consistent across cultures. What about your company? How would you define an A-player? How do you identify them in your hiring process? Let's discuss in the comments! And if you're curious about implementing AI in your TA & HR processes, feel free to reach out. #AIinHR #GlobalRecruitment #SkillsBasedHiring #TalentAcquisition
I am from kenya and I don"t think we have those over here, hopefully i will get a job that will help me gain that A player experience
You're an A-Player, Heather Lother 🙌
Here are additional traits that Crossover looks for when identifying A-players globally: Collaborative team player Problem solver and critical thinker Demonstrates leadership qualities Continuous learner and seeks self-improvement Results-oriented and driven by achievement Handles pressure and challenges effectively Tech-savvy and embraces new technologies Emphasizes quality and attention to detail Displays integrity and professionalism Customer-focused and empathetic Effective time manager and meets deadlines These traits collectively contribute to a high-performing team member who not only excels in their role but also positively impacts the organization's culture and success. 😉
Two of the things I look for, using some fluffy buzz language, are T shaped and purple people. Where T shaped means you're really good at one thing but not at the cost of being pretty good at all the other things. Purple people being those who can talk to both computers and humans successfully. In any team, and particularly in an agile environment, I think being a pretty good coder and a pretty good communicator is better than being a really good of either. And sacrificing all other trades to be king of one technology leaves gaps of understanding in the team.
