A familiar Tale of two leaders: It wasn’t too long ago I was hiring for a senior manager position on my group. I normally try to infer from candidates to see if they really understand the job. Manager#1: I will run a team of 12 people, manage team P&L, I would increase efficiency and output of the group. 5 mins into the conversation the candidate is still talking about them. #ItsAboutThem Manager#2: I will spend time knowing what people excel at and what they need coaching. I will work with customers to close the feedback loop and bring engineering closer to the product and customer.
