It was great to have a conversation with Katharine Halliday about how technology can give clinicians back time, but also thinking about the challenges of doing that well. Physiotherapy isn’t as technology-enabled as radiology but there are pockets of excellence all over our profession. We need to overcome the barriers to using technology to support the work of physiotherapy teams and deliver even better care quickly to those that need it the most. #DigitalPhysio #DigitalAHP #DataSavesLives

Excited to share an insightful study on the integration of AI in radiology! Hye Soo Cho, Eui Jin Hwang, and their team conducted an important study evaluating the effectiveness of AVIEW Lung Nodule CAD, our deep-learning-based AI system, in identifying basal lung metastases that were initially overlooked in abdominopelvic CT scans. These scans are often focused on abdominal organs, meaning lung metastases may be incidentally overlooked. In this retrospective study, which analyzed 878 CT scans, the AI system identified overlooked metastases in 1.5% of patients. https://lnkd.in/gGDWDFHy While the AI initially produced some false positives, radiologist review significantly improved accuracy without compromising sensitivity. This shows how AI can serve as a valuable second reader, enhancing the diagnostic process by detecting what might be missed in routine clinical evaluations. What’s more exciting is that we are currently progressing with a reader study to further assess how AVIEW can be integrated into clinical practice, and its potential impact on patient outcomes. You can find the full paper in Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology: “Artificial intelligence system for identification of overlooked lung metastasis in abdominopelvic computed tomography scans of patients with malignancy” by Hye Soo Cho, Eui Jin Hwang, Jaeyoun Yi, Boorym Choi, and Chang Min Park. #AIinHealthcare #Radiology #LungCancerScreening #AVIEW #AIInnovation #MedicalAI #ClinicalResearch #AbdominalCT

Recognising the growing demand for exams and the need to enhance quality without compromising throughput, I-MED Radiology Network embraced Annalise.ai's solution in 2021. I-MED Radiology Network's strategic approach, including meticulous planning, education programs, and constant communication, provides a blueprint for successful AI integration. Today, the Annalise.ai solution is a companion for I-MED's 400+ radiologists. In conversation with Canadian Healthcare Technology, Dr Catherine Jones explains - In a test phase for chest X-ray exams, the Annalise.ai system exceeded expectations, demonstrating three times better performance on several key metrics. ➡ Notably, radiologists reported changing their reports 3.1% of the time, surpassing the target of 1%. ➡ Patient management changes and additional imaging recommendations also outperformed expectations. Dr. Catherine Jones said - "The radiologists who were the most opposed to AI became its biggest supporters after they had used it." The success story extends to the full rollout, with 93% of radiologists using the tool for every CXR, and 90% acknowledging a positive impact on reporting.
