All EU member states are obliged to implement separate collection of textile waste from 1 January 2025 at the latest.   At NS System, we have already entered into an agreement to deliver all our surplus textiles, such as textiles with defects and discarded workwear, to NewRetex A/S. It is a Danish company that sorts textile waste into different colors and materials and sends it on for recycling in the circular loop. In this way, we contribute to more textile waste being recycled and turned into clothes and textiles again.   Environment and climate are at the heart of our commitment to responsible production. Recycling textiles is a priority and a better solution for the environment.

In 2022, about 68% of paper and paperboard consumed nationwide was recycled, placing it at the highest rate of recycled material, over glass, metal and plastic. At Sappi, our graphic papers and paperboard are made with fresh fiber because we know that it starts the paper cycle and will be turned into something new. Our products and innovations all work to support circularity. “Circularity” is all about maintaining a product’s lifespan without creating waste. It can be summed up with “reduce, reuse, recycle.” Products, like textiles made with our dissolved pulp, Verve, can be recycled in facilities that process fibers to become raw material for new products. Thanks to the renewable power of trees, we can recycle more, waste less and still enjoy high-quality products.

[Business philosophy - Recycling factories might face closures before seeing the end of the tunnel, part 2 ⛔️]   Discussions surrounding carbon credits and the promotion of recycled materials have gained traction in the market. However, the challenge lies in determining who bears the associated costs and how to implement these concepts across diverse countries. While businesses shutter daily, fresh entrants continue to join the recycling industry 🧑 The inner workings and profitability of the industry remain enigmatic to many. It is my belief that only a fraction of the truth has been grasped.   In the current sluggish market conditions, the industry is pinning its hopes on whether and how European Union countries will enforce mandatory recycled material usage. Pre- and post-consumer recycling are becoming more important in our industry. But, how do both methods compare? What are their benefits and challenges? It is often said that in nature, there is no such thing as waste. Everything is recycled there. The carpet industry can draw inspiration from nature’s efficient recycling systems. Take a quick look around your household, and you will realize that daily life is hard to imagine without plastics. It’s in the packaging that keeps our food fresh, in the clothes we wear, in our furniture, carpets and countless other everyday objects. To make sure plastic does not end up as waste, we need closed-loop production to keep resources in play for as long as possible. This world environment day… The focus is #BeatPlasticPollution But any scrappy worth his weight already knows. 👉🏼 Ali cans are recycled at almost 2x the rate of plastic bottles. 👉🏼 A recycled aluminium can is back on the shelf in just 60 days. 👉🏼 75% of all aluminium ever produced is still in use today. 👉🏼 Metal is infinitely recyclable and doesn’t degrade. So we don’t need to bleet on about making good choices with this lot. Just keep doing what you’re doing. And while you’re at it - make a bit of a noise about it. Here's the How-To: 1. Empty Completely: Use up the product as much as possible. 2. No Puncturing: Even if empty, pressurised cans can be dangerous in the recycling process. 3. Lid Off: Remove the plastic lid (recycle separately if your program accepts that type of plastic). 4. Toss it In! Place the empty can straight into your recycling bin.
