Most companies apply to be recognized as a Best Place to Work or other similar awards. What I love about the American Opportunity Index from the Schultz Family Foundation (announced last week) is that employers can only influence it through their behavior - it’s all 3rd party data & analysis. And the other thing I love about it is seeing the companies that our teams at Guild have spent thousands of hours with - trying to create opportunity - are succeeding and being recognized for it. Their investment in education, in equity, in systems, processes, and tools for Career Mobility, and good management practices are bearing fruit. Here’s a quick shine on some of the Employers who are objectively making Opportunities available for their employees that the Guild team has gotten to partner with (there are others, but our relationships aren’t public, so I won’t spoil the news here) : PNC Target JPMorgan Chase Lowe’s Chipotle PepsiCo Charter Hilton Walmart Bath & Body Works USAA WM We're just getting started!!

Today, three of the Employee Trustees at Stephens Scown complete their three-year terms and hand over to the new-look group 😢 They’ve achieved a great amount, and put in enormous effort over the last three years, so it’s sad to see them step away - but brilliant to be able to celebrate their contributions 🎉 They are Team Players, they are Role Models. They are Scowners to put on a pedestal. Kia Pearson, Lexie Williams and Anthony Booth have helped to evolve and re-define what EO is at our business, how it can contribute to the growth of the business and the experience of our colleagues, and they will be missed. My highlight from our time 🤔 it might be when we all had the opportunity to present the launch of our behaviours to the business, and each Trustee celebrated great examples from across our workforce. That, or when we pre-recorded our AGM for EO Day 2024 and Lexie secured the guest appearances of ex-Olympians and other sporting stars. I’m sure that they will continue to contribute, albeit without the title. With the change comes the brilliant opportunity for the new Employee Trustees and in the hands of them our employee owners can remain confident – Emily Smith, Gemma Mittell (Symons), Meesha Ghovanloupoor, Tyler Richards, and Natalie Vizard. #EmployeeOwnership #Culture #EmployeeEngagement

Friday Fun: The DEI Detective🕵️♀️ Happy Friday, everyone! Let's kick off the weekend with a fun story about diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). Once upon a time in the bustling city of Diversityville, there was a legendary detective named Detective Inclusion. One bright and sunny day, she got a frantic call from Mr. Equitas, the CEO of Equitas Enterprises. Despite their best efforts, their DEI strategies just weren’t cutting it, and the workplace was in disarray. Detective Inclusion quickly gathered her team: Agent Equity, the champion of fairness, and Agent Diversity, who brought a fresh perspective to every case. They arrived at Equitas Enterprises and immediately spotted the problems. Employees were cliqued up in groups and not collaborating with others. The company had great DEI policies, but they weren’t being enforced consistently. And the leadership team didn’t reflect the diversity of the workforce. Rolling up their sleeves, Detective Inclusion and her team sprang into action. They organized team-building activities to mix things up and get people working together. They made sure the DEI policies were enforced fairly across the board. And they worked on developing a more inclusive leadership pipeline. The transformation was magical. Teams collaborated better, employees felt valued and heard, and the leadership became more diverse and inclusive. Equitas Enterprises not only improved its DEI outcomes but also saw a boost in overall performance and employee satisfaction. And so, the DEI Detective Agency saved the day yet again, proving that a little teamwork, fairness, and inclusive leadership can go a long way. Let’s all take a page from Detective Inclusion’s book and continue to champion diversity, equity, and inclusion in our workplaces. Have a fantastic weekend! 🌟 #FridayFun #DEI #Diversity #Equity #Inclusion #WorkplaceCulture #BlackProfessionalsIreland

Labor Day weekend is fast approaching, and it’s the perfect time to celebrate American workers and their achievements! Are you looking for ways to celebrate your co-workers and employees? Or better yet, ways to make sure you’re celebrating their achievements year-round? There are lots of little things you can do every day to make sure your colleagues feel appreciated and supported: • Promote their successes – give credit where credit is due and celebrate even the small wins • Listen to understand, not to respond – a team that understands each other is a team that enjoys working together • Be kind – even when times are tough, remember to be compassionate – you can’t always see the full picture • Be respectful – you might disagree with each other at times, but as long as you remain objective and respectful, your working relationship will remain intact Let me know in the comments what other tips you would add! #laborday #teamwork #success

I was delighted to have been invited to write the Last Word in this month's FMCG CEO Magazine entitled DON’T JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS COVER. my thanks to Eamonn Duff. Might just be a word in season. Here's the intro: The saying "don't judge a book by its cover" is an important reminder for those of us who are committed to fostering inclusive working environments. When it comes to religion and belief, we are wont to pre-judge, or to put it more starkly, we are prone to prejudice, making often unwarranted judgements about people and their real or imagined characteristics. When it comes to religious identities, we are quick to create false narratives based on external appearances – judging a person by, for instance, their head coverings. Two of the absolute hallmarks of inclusion are acceptance and non-judgement. When people perceive that they don’t fit in situations where they want to belong, they will often make forced and unsustainable edits and adjustment to fit in. The March edition of FMCG CEO Magazine is finally here, and it's packed with insightful content from industry leaders. Our very own Paul Anderson-Walsh FRSA had the privilege of contributing the last word. 📝 In his article, he highlights the wide-ranging benefits that flow from fostering a genuine, religiously inclusive workplace.
