Often, we envision artists tapping into wellsprings of inspiration and genius inaccessible to the rest of us. 🍽️ Last weekend, I had the pleasure of visiting the Auberge de l'Abbaye in Ambronay, just an hour's drive from Geneva. The restaurant boasted a delicious menu, captivating setting, and stunning interior. However, what truly captivated me was the Chef's ability to manage the entire space almost single-handedly, with just one more person on board. From cooking and serving to welcoming guests, cleaning, and handling payments – the Ivan LAVAUX orchestrated it all. 🌟 This, to me, is the epitome of creativity – a perfect fusion of art and passion. It's about more than just crafting a delightful dish; it's about seamlessly navigating the complexities of running a business, addressing issues on the spot, and transforming potential chaos into a well-organized enterprise. 🔄 Managing the business environment involves turning painful and frustrating experiences into a necessity for transformation. Creative projects and new businesses are akin to cognitive puzzles, entailing thousands of choices and potential ideas. Success lies in reaching the point where excellent service becomes second nature. The journey is seldom straightforward; you often don't have the right answer and must trust your intuition, the chemistry between individuals, and the ability to let go with no regrets when necessary. 🏗️ Building a business isn't about a single brilliant breakthrough moment. It's about constructing systems capable of sifting through numerous ideas to unearth the right choices. With 2024 right around the corner, making New Year's resolutions is common. Personally, I don't normally set resolutions, but this year I'm considering a resolution to create a strategic plan for myself. In the past, I've been part of teams creating, writing, and implementing strategic plans for businesses but never writing one for myself. After listening to Patricia Romboletti's talks on Living by Design and reading the attached Harvard Business Review article, I am seriously considering it. You develop faster with ups and downs in life. 3 ways to skyrocket your growth & development: (h/t to Lara) 1) Step outside the circle. Draw a circle around yourself. By design the space is finite. Step outside the circle and it becomes infinite. It's more comfortable to stay within the circle, but your infinite growth potential lies outside of it. 2) Become a feedback magnet. It's one thing to be "open to feedback." It's entirely another to actively solicit it. The former is passive, the latter is active. Ask those around you how you can improve. Take charge. 3) Play the "win or learn" game. At the end of each day note 3 wins and 3 things you learned. Focus on progress, not perfection. I don't know where the idea that #projects have a linear and stable #plan originated, but it gives senior leaders and key stakeholders a wrong perception. #Projects have ups and downs - always! If you use the downs to learn, your #team gets better and better, allowing you to deliver your #project faster. #projecteconomy
