Early Memorial Day thoughts. This holiday has so many meanings. For me though, it is remembering the absolutely tough last 5 years. Here is a brief synopsis. 1) Laid off in 2019 from a corporate job where I felt marginalized and overwhelmed. 2) Developed my positive and energetic personality (I was always an extrovert, but it never showed). 3) Took more risks than I should have in business. 4) Found the courage to leave my marriage. 5) Searched for meaning in life and in my relationships (hint: do not do this with relationships until you are centered). 6) Found my path and something I'm REALLY good at. I will never retire from this one. 7) Met someone who could be very special in my life. Trust me when you meet that person you WILL know. 8) Just had the most engaging training of my life which was an introduction to what will be a four year journey. 9) Now facing that my parents are still healthy but the decline even in the last 6 months was very noticeable. 10) Realizing that my current business stress was easy to relieve once I reached out to 3 or 4 people I have met through LinkedIn. They can be dispassionate about my plans and gave me great feedback. For me, Memorial Day this year is the memories and the people that I have found in life. Happy Memorial Day to you all. Happy Memorial Day, everyone! As we honor those who have bravely served and sacrificed for our country, it's also a perfect moment to reflect on our daily routines. Yes, habits can be incredibly beneficial—they streamline our lives, help us achieve our goals, and reduce stress. But, have you ever thought about the down side of being too habitual? On Memorial Day, when we step back to remember and reflect, it’s a good time to consider how our routines may be holding us back from truly engaging with the world around us. Think about it! When was the last time you took a spontaneous road trip or tried something out of your ordinary? Habits, while comforting, can sometimes keep us in a bubble, away from new experiences and opportunities. They can create a false sense of security and even stifle creativity. So, while I appreciate the structure habits bring me, I’ll use my day off to inspire me to break them. To honor those who’ve shown immense bravery by embracing a bit of that spirit myself. I’ll try something new, challenge my routines, and I might just find a fresh perspective waiting for me. Here’s to striking the perfect balance between cherished habits and new adventures! I'm incredibly grateful for the values my parents have instilled in me. As they navigate their 80s, their actions speak volumes about the kind of world they wish to see – one built on kindness, empathy, and genuine connections. 𝗔 𝗳𝗲𝘄 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆'𝘃𝗲 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗲𝗱 𝗺𝘆 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲: 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗶𝘁: At their home, they show their desire to see others welcomed and cherished, not just through words, but through elaborate meals prepared with care. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: Every moment spent with them is a cherished opportunity for deep connection. Their unwavering presence reminds me of the fundamental human need to be seen, heard, and valued. 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀: Cultural values shape our family dynamic. From addressing elders with reverence to honoring traditions, their actions reinforce the importance of respecting our heritage. Their lives are testaments to the power of respect, kindness, and genuine connection. And these are the values I strive to carry forward, both personally and professionally. How most people see it: ✅ Parades and festivities ✅ Family gatherings and BBQs ✅ Fireworks lighting up the night sky ✅ Patriotic displays of red, white, and blue ✅ Celebrating American freedom and history Here’s what July 4th really represents for us: ❌ The ongoing struggle for equality and justice ❌ The responsibility to uphold democratic values ❌ The opportunity to come together as a community ❌ The need to reflect on our nation's progress and challenges ❌ The bravery and sacrifice of those who fought for our freedom Let me break this to you: True celebration is acknowledging our past while working for a better future. Freedom is earned. Unity is essential. We grow as a nation when we embrace our history and strive for progress. So if you’re not feeling the celebration today, that’s okay.
