On Tuesday, The Coca-Cola Company raised its annual sales and profit forecasts on Tuesday, as the beverage maker bets on price hikes and an advertising blitz, mainly in international markets where demand for its sodas and juices has been relatively strong. The company has been trying out newer versions of its drinks such as Coke Spiced and Georgia Coffee to cater to varied tastes while sponsoring music festivals and sporting events such as the Euro 2024 Football Championship and the Paris Olympics to attract younger consumers. "With Summer Olympics coming every four years ... you expect really bigger effect in the market ... and a part of that is baked into (Coca-Cola's) guidance," said Christian Greiner, senior portfolio manager at F/m Investments, which owns shares in the company. This is unlike rival PepsiCo which more recently started to push on with the launch of new flavors of its snacking brands such as Lay's and Doritos and offering products across different price tiers, as customers become more price-conscious. Before festivities even begin, the rush to shop for preparations has become somewhat of a ritual for many households. To meet this demand, we see retail #brands adjusting their offerings and activities. Organising community-based activities to spread the festive cheer 🙌 FairPrice Group (brand value up 14% to USD1 billion*) made a pledge of SGD80,000 to seniors-in-need through its philanthropic arm FairPrice Foundation. It also hosted two block parties in neighbourhood heartlands to celebrate and bond with residents through various festive activities. Attendees took part in FairPrice’s “Festive Care Pack” initiative, to provide 4,000 care packs containing daily essentials to senior beneficiaries through 10 charitable organisations. Sheng Siong Group (brand value up 30% to USD362 million*) brought joy to customers with its live variety game show “The Sheng Siong Show”. Currently, SGD2 million worth of cash prizes will be given away to lucky winners between its year-end promotion from November 2023 to February 2024. The show rewards customers with cash prizes through in-studio games, talent show competitions, outdoor cooking competitions and lucky draws. Customers participate by filling in lucky draw forms at the bottom of their purchase receipts. 2. Easing the pressures on rising costs of living that customers face 💸 FairPrice and Sheng Siong held initiatives at the end of 2023 to ease pressures on increasing costs of living due to this year’s Goods and Services Taxes (GST) rate increase. During the Chinese New Year period, FairPrice put a freeze on prices of popular seafood items and gave exclusive discounts for vegetables. The price freeze was implemented after a market survey showed that wet market prices on popular fresh produce were gradually increasing. 3. Online exclusive promotions to promote the use of digital solutions 🤳 Following the shift from its physical card to the FairPrice Group app, Kopitiam (brand value down 6% to USD272 million*) – a subsidiary of FairPrice Group – is holding a lucky draw promotion until March 31, 2024. The lucky draw has more than SGD13,000 worth of prizes to be won.
