Today our YOOK- the first oat drink factory in the Baltics, in which Estonian entrepreneurs invested more than €13 million, started production in the Central-Estonia town Türi. Wow, what a journey it has been! 🚀 A greenfield project is probably professionally the craziest and most rewarding one can imagine. Creating a factory together with a company with all the functionalities needed from scratch is…worth a book 😊 🌍 A challenge like that teaches you never ever to give up, even, if you seem to face a black hole. My greatest thanks goes to YOOK team, who beat the worst scenarios with good humour and down-to-earth attitude. I guess that thanks to the experience we are the masters of darkest humour today. 🏗️ 1 year and 4 months ago we laid the cornerstone to our production facility. What a journey it has been ever since! War in Ukraine, where Ukrainians are fighting for our freedom, has left its mark on supply chains. It provided us an enormous learning curve about adaptability and out-of-box solutions. And forever gratitude towards Ukrainians. ✨ Competition in oat drinks is very tough, and to be successful, #YOOK needs be clearly better and smarter. During the whole production set up process, where also I needed to remind myself about physics formulas and learn the basics of automation, while searching for some missing components, I also had an opportunity to dive into food science together with amazing team of scientists in #TFTAK as well as elsewhere in Nordics. Meanwhile setting up marketing, finances, sales, personnel management and so on. None of it was easy, but it is important to keep your feet on the ground and be kind to yourself and your team as we were all doing it for the first time. And we did great! It is difficult to put together all the experience, emotions, know-how, twists and turns of the process into one post as there is a lot of everything there. But most importantly, in couple of weeks or so YOOK is on the shelves. Thank you all for keeping your fingers crossed and helping us in all possible ways. We really did it!!! 😊😊😊 #YOOK #oatdrinks #firstinestonia #firstinbaltics #nordicoats

Asahi plan major Hungarian investment 🍺 Asahi Europe & International's Hungarian beer business Dreher Sörgyárak is primed to receive the biggest investment in its history as part of a decade-long plan. Dreher Breweries was absorbed by Asahi in 2017 after AB InBev acquired SABMiller back in 2016. The first phase of the HUF100 billion (€261 million) investment will reportedly begin in January 2024 and will continue until 2026. This will include a new energy unit being built and the fermentation and conditioning tanks being replaced. This stage is estimated to require HUF30 billion (€78 million) in financing. Dreher Breweries, which is 170 years old and based in Kőbánya (the 10th district in Budapest), will then see its technology replaced to meet sustainability targets and also see its storage capacity expanded. Local reports have highlighted that Asahi has already secured 30% of the funds and such a development on a similar scale is unprecedented in the history of beer production in Hungary. #Asahi #Beer #Investment #Hungary #Finance #Operations

In the unpredictable world of business, sometimes the most remarkable ventures arise from unexpected circumstances. Chandramohan Nallur, the Director of Business Relations at the Indo Polish Chamber of Commerce and Industries, found himself at the epicenter of a unique situation when a 5-tonne rice flakes consignment got stuck amid fluctuating dollar and Polish zloty prices due to the Russia-Ukraine conflict and a collapsing trade deal. Faced with this challenge, Nallur ingeniously turned adversity into opportunity. Using the stranded rice flakes to produce beer, he not only managed to clear the goods but also discovered an untapped market. The demand for the beer skyrocketed, prompting him to transform this accidental business into a thriving venture. When it came to naming the beer, Nallur chose 'Malayalia' as a tribute to the Malayali diaspora, who played a pivotal role in Operation Ganga during the Russia-Ukraine conflict. His leadership in the operation earned him gratitude from the Prime Minister himself. After navigating the bureaucratic hurdles, Nallur successfully registered 'Malayali' as a brand for alcohol and other beverages worldwide. The beer quickly gained popularity, becoming a sensation in Indian restaurants and even outselling established brands like Kingfisher. In just 13 months, Malayali beer expanded its reach to six countries, with plans to enter the UK, Bulgaria, Romania, and Turkey. Not stopping at alcoholic beverages, Malayali ventured into the non-alcoholic beer market, launching a product that dominates European markets. To mark the anniversary of Malayali's success, Nallur and his partner, Sarghve Sukumaran, introduced 'THUG; a robust beer variant filling the gap for a strong brew in the market. This strategic move further contributed to Malayali's soaring valuation, now standing at an impressive 30 crores. From its accidental beginnings to global recognition, Malayali beer exemplifies the power of innovation and resilience in the face of challenges. Cheers to Chandramohan Nallur and Sarghve Sukumaran, the visionaries behind this remarkable success story! #wolfofstartup #beer #beerlover #beer #malayalirocks #startupstory
