Making the Right Changes... I’ve played golf for many years, and I’d imagine in those years I’ve hit tens of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands golf balls. And I’ve played well enough through the years that I’ve been able to own against many golfers in local tournaments and some USGA sponsored events. I know my golf swing well. The best parts of it and the little nagging things that I try to correct so I can play the best I can. Like most golfers, even though I play a pretty good game, I’m always striving for improvement. About 10 years ago, I lucked out to schedule and take a golfing lesson from a Mr. Jim Hopkins in Austin, Texas. Jim learned his craft under Harvey Penick, an old sage in the golfing world. For you non-golfers out there, Mr. Penick is known the golfing world for being both Ben Crenshaw and Tim Kite’s golfing teacher AND for a late in life almost celebrity status due to his writing of a practical sense golf lessons book called, “The Little Red Book.” He achieved his celebrity status in his 90’s as the golfing world finally learned more about this his wisdom for golf and life. Mr. Penick “Little Red Book” became a bible to many golfers due to his simple, direct, practical wisdom. He purposely steered away from the hyper-technical jargon that’s had grown up around the golf swing, and helped all golfers, whatever their level, play their best. And gave some great life advice in his musings. My first lesson with Jim was spent watching me hit about 20-25 balls. Again, I was playing competitively and playing fairly well – I just wanted to be a bit better. Jim gave me a good look after I hit my initial allotment of balls and said, “You’re doing many things well. And have about 5-6 little things that can be tweaked a little to help you play better.” Good for me, I can work on 5-6 things, I thought. Then Jim made a statement that I’ve carried over to my own life, work and personal, that has made me a better person and golfer. “The secret is to tweak the right 1 or 2 things that will correct all the other things, so you get the best results and the changes stick.” Not my fixes were quick to correct, but by making a foundational change they wouldn’t come back so easily that I’d fall into the same bad habits. My changes took about an entire golf season to achieve, but they corrected all the other issues I had with my swing. And I've retained them to this day. However, I still meet up with Jim about once a year for a tune up to focus on any new little things that will get me the biggest results. What are some of the little things in life you correct that will get the biggest results? Most of us know what they are...go identify them & correct them. Check out Jim Hopkins in the link below. Great interview about golf, the golf swing, and life. https://lnkd.in/gF3RMf7H #golflessons #JimHopkins #HarveyPenick #LittleThings

🎯🧠 - Golf requires focus. Concentrating on one thing is not something we’re very good at these days, and that’s where learning golf comes in handy. It teaches you to focus on the golf course and during a golf shot. ⛳️ More importantly, it will also help you transfer this skill into your everyday life, which can be beneficial in all aspects of your life, especially if you’re a high performing professional with plenty on your plate. Read the sentence again 🧠 - „What you focus on creates your reality“, and think about how implementing this simple rule into your life can help you achieve what you want, on and off the golf course. #focus #mindfullness #createyourreality #golfmental #mentalcoaching golfair_retreats clubtags Daily Sports

Golfers who love the game accept it rather than fight it. Golf is a game of mistakes and unpredictable misfortune. Players trying to seek perfection don’t look like they’re having a good time. They are the ones that love talking about golf, swapping stories about golf, reading about golf, they don’t actually like playing golf, at least not when they’re actually doing it. If this is your hobby why would you make it your hobby? Still more, your profession? Golfers that love the game accept it rather than fight it. It is realising that the essence of golf is reacting well to inevitable mistakes and misfortunes. You will never have complete control of the golf ball but you can have complete control of your attitude.

I love going skiing! Nothing better than hanging out with my friends at the bar. I love a good workout. Some people think they can only date someone with similar likes as themselves. This is so untrue. In a relationship it helps to have some things you both like. However, it is much more important to give to each other and for the relationship! Even if you don't like a lot of the same things you can have a great relationship. Do you think this is true? What do you think? #coach #coaching #date #dating #relationship #similarities
