⚡⚡ Today, the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology announced that Aegiq is amongst the winners of a £30 million quantum testbed competition run by the National Quantum Computing Centre (NQCC).   The funding will be used to deliver Artemis, our compact photonic quantum computer with full integration into testbed ecosystem, which is based on our proprietary integrated photonic chip technology and leveraging QuiX Quantum technology. The system will be delivered and installed by early 2025 at the NQCC, ready for operation.   “We firmly believe that government-backed capital, as a strategic partner, is the key to turbocharging the UK quantum industry and competing on the global scale.” As our CEO, Maksym Sich 🇺🇦 highlights, government support like this will drive innovation in quantum computing and enhance the UK’s capabilities. A device to efficiently generate frequency-bin entangled #photon pairs in a spiral-shaped microresonator was demonstrated by research from C2N - Centre de Nanosciences et de Nanotechnologies, Télécom Paris, and STMicroelectronics. Published in #AdvancedPhotonics, the work shows that broadband frequency-entangled state generation is suitable for weaving a #quantum network. Demultiplexing these frequency qubits enables secure quantum information distribution in a 5-user trusted-node-free quantum network, which is unprecedented with frequency-encoded qubits! Quantum Computing promises exponential speedup in the computational capabilities for certain types of problems. However, due to the limited capacity of the current generation of NISQ devices, practically useful applications are not feasible.
