Great article explaining the new scrutiny #BigTech is facing. It includes wonderful examples of "what they say, what they mean" such as: “new ways to manage your data” we got caught breaking the law “subscription for no ads” we found a new way to ignore the law “opt-out process” we track you by default “personalized advertising” surveillance advertising, aka tracking “relevant ads” tracking “personalized products” tracking “relevant content” tracking “personalization” tracking https://lnkd.in/ghuzzx-D

🏛 Latest: The Supreme Court's recent decisions put the onus squarely on Congress to craft detailed legislation on tech policy, something lawmakers have long struggled to do. Why it matters: In a world where Congress is slow to pass any #tech and #AI bills, weakened agencies that had been picking up the slack will be less empowered to move forward with rulemaking and standards-setting. This is especially apparent in artificial intelligence, where lawmakers lack technical expertise. Driving the news: The Supreme Court on Friday overruled the long-standing #Chevron precedent, giving courts the power to decide whether agencies are acting within the authorities given to them in laws. I've been thinking a lot about Google lately after talking to some CEOs who run their businesses on Google Suite. The TDLR: Google / Gemini is going to take a huge portion of the enterprise AI market. I guess no surprise there, but in public / press sentiment (and even at times in stock price) Google has felt behind - it didn't have the shiny ChatGPT launch, the killer CEO like Microsoft, etc. But as my friend Adam reminded me this week, Google has the compute (literally 5+ nuclear power plants of energy worth), has some of the best talent on the planet in Google DeepMind, owns the full stack end-to-end (from the OS with Android, to the hardware), and controls the entry-point for search. If they are able to get their claws into the "internal" enterprise search with Gemini they will own search even more tightly than they do today. Which is why this summer's anti-trust verdict is worth keeping a close eye on. Not just for Google, but for how we approach building the next Google(s) #ai #Google #software https://lnkd.in/g3zuanAN

Empower your business with independent privacy-by-design data orchestration. Ensure seamless regulatory compliance tailored to your data-driven ecosystem
Just to remind us all, privacy-compliance is or could be a serieus margin “killer”. A big one when your company get fined. For Big Tech it is just a pity for their shareholders. When are authorities shifting their focus to a representative part of the market, companies using Big Tech in a non compliant way.

Is the era of Big Tech operating with self-regulation and impunity over? If the #DigitalMarketsAct and other legal actions have their intended effect, innovation from smaller companies will flourish. That's a big "if." Let's see how court rulings and regulatory actions hold up a year from now.

Hi Christian. Could not agree more. There is great traction for this approach in India with UPI being an exemplary interoperable payment network (payments in the West seem very primitive in comparison) and ONDC now spreading in areas such as Ride Hailing (see Namma Yatri).
