Catalyst 2030 was present at UNGA 79!
It was a wonderful few days sharing with all our members, ecosystem partners, and the organizations that are part of the Catalyst movement.
During our event with the Segal Family Foundation, Andy Bryant their CEO, and Karen Spencer, a member of our Governing Council, gave a warm welcome to more than 100 funders, allies, and members who joined to celebrate the impact of Catalyst2030. Our Co-Chief Facilitator, Gaby Arenas de Meneses, presented the Impact Report, highlighting all the work we have done over the past four years.
Our Co-Chief Facilitator, Fredrik Galtung, moderated a panel on “The Role of Impact Ecosystems for Systemic Change”, where Merijn Dols from NOW Partners Foundation emphasized the importance of collaboration and the concept of impact ecosystems for systemic and transformational change. Maria Bystedt from the H&M Foundation discussed the need to change how we fund social sector projects, promoting more holistic initiatives and cross-sector collaborations. Suchetha Bhat (she/her) from Dream A Dream shared how working within a learning ecosystem has enabled systemic impact, transforming the education of millions of children across India. Maria Jose Rubio de Hart presented the process of creating “Compromiso Bogotá”, an impact ecosystem in Colombia that brings together over 40 private companies, entrepreneurs, social leaders, and NGOs to collaborate with the Suba community. The collaboration with Morgan Stanley also announced.
In our panel on the “Africa Forward Blueprint”, we engaged the audience in an interactive session on key funding issues, diaspora contributions, social economy, and job creation in Africa’s social entrepreneurship space. We used real-time polling, data sharing, and expert panelists to drive actionable insights.
The panel was moderated by Anna Ekeledo Founder of AfriLabs with support from our Africa Forward Director, Pearl Uzokwe. The panelists included Africa Forward Co-Chair Luvuyo Rani and Nasri Adam, Regional Director of African Venture Philanthropy.
To close the event, our Co-Chair of the Governing Council, Jeroo Billimoria, celebrated the commitment of our ecosystem partners in a panel with Shivani Garg Patel of Skoll Foundation, Cheryl Dorsey of Echoing Green, Shaheen Kassim-Lakha of the Hilton Foundation, David Bonbright of Ashoka and a special message from Dr. François Bonnici of the Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship.
