Last 20 April, Quisumbing Torres partner and Secretary-General of the Philippine International Center for Conflict Resolution, Inc. (PICCR) Calimon Donemark participated in PICCR's Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signing ceremony with the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) Cavite and Bataan Chapters. During the brief ceremony, Donemark explained the objectives of the collaboration and expressed his hope that in the future, IBP Chapters will themselves have significant participation in the administration of arbitration in their respective jurisdictions. Also participating in the program were Atty. Antonio C. Pido (IBP National President), Atty. Sixto Jose C. Antonio (PICCR President), Atty. Andre D. Ignacio (IBP Cavite Chapter President), Atty. Jade Paolo T. Molo (IBP Bataan Chapter President), Atty. Julius Anthony Omila, MCIArb, MPIArb (PICCR Deputy Secretary General for Business Development), Atty. Bernadel V. (PICCR's Business Development committee member) and other officers of the PICCR and the IBP. The MOA aims to advance the shared goals of both institutions in the areas of administration of justice and effective conflict resolution, primarily focusing on promoting the use of arbitration and alternative dispute resolution under the Rules of Arbitration of the PICCR particularly within the jurisdictions of these IBP Chapters. With the optimistic response to this collaboration, the firm is looking forward to extending its full support to the IBP and PICCR in this promising albeit challenging endeavor. #disputeresolution #arbitration

This March began with my participation in the Eurasian Arbitration Days at IAC AIFC, where I had the honor of speaking on trends and tendencies in arbitration during a session with Linda Landén, Ilia V. Rachkov and Ais Lidzhanova, moderated by Thomas Krummel. He advises careful consideration in the drafting of arbitration agreements that include the appointing authorities to avoid delays and additional costs.
