What are the rituals in your community?
Rituals are actions that carry specific meaning for members of a community. Often, they are used to publicly recognize the contributions of certain members.
This strengthens the bonds within the community, both by showing appreciation for the members being recognized, but also by inspiring those who are giving the recognition.
Rituals are all around us. For example:
College graduation ceremonies are a a ritual, recognizing the accomplishments of those in the student community who have earned their degrees.
Mother's Day is a a ritual, recognizing the important role that mothers play in our communities.
Worship services are a ritual -- whether they take place at a church, a synagogue, or a mosque -- which unite the community members.
If you have a community, what are its rituals? If you are thinking of launching a community, what will its rituals be?
