We are glad to announce the publication of Pathfast 0/2 hour high sensitivity troponin algorithm evaluation by the Swiss research group led by Prof. Müller of the University Hospital Basel . In addition to the 0/1 hour protocol, which has been mentioned in the ESC guidelines for Pathfast since 2020, the new algorithm represents an important milestone for high sensitivity troponin diagnostics with Pathfast. Thus, it could be demonstrated that the POC hs-cTnI-PATHFAST assay allows rapid and effective rule-out and rule-in of NSTEMI using both a 0/1h- and a 0/2h-algorithm with high NPV/sensitivity for rule-out and high PPV/specificity for rule-in. Eyetube caught up with Russ Van Gelder, MD, PhD, at #AAO2023 earlier this month to learn more about KIO-301 and the findings from our ABACUS study in retinitis pigmentosa "KIO-301 is a small molecule photoswitch, which can confer on neurons, the ability to fire in light and silence in dark. This is a potential way to reverse blindness in patients with advanced outer-retinal degeneration in retinitis pigmentosa and potentially in age-related macular degeneration. Agree...the large BMT centers in India are reluctant to undertake such studies...the media and public too is against clinical trials...we just follow guidelines from the West...the leadership of BMT centers must convince the public of the necessity of such clinical trials...that is responsible leadership...profits as the sole motive cannot be leadership...only Suparno Chakrabarti is bold enough to generate and publish Indian data...others simply either follow western data or do not publish...of course there is no dearth of huge and lavish conferences with international faculty which basically are marketing exercises for attracting patients to hospitals.
Research is the most pivotal component of oncological advancement, awaiting a bright future of several pathbreaking clinical trials and game-changing clinical triumphs!

Following a highly successful treatment of BPH – enlargement of the prostate gland – using pulsed electromagnetic field (PEMF) therapy in dogs, the Parsemus Foundation supported a small clinical trial in men to see if the positive results translated to humans. Enhanced recovery of urinary small extracellular vesicles using differential ultracentrifugation: in their latest study, Carmen Jeronimo at Instituto Português de Oncologia do Porto (IPO-Porto) and collaborators aimed to optimise an ultracentrifugation protocol to reduce processing time and improve the yield of small extracellular vesicles. By testing different ultracentrifugation durations at 200,000g, they discovered that 48 minutes and 60 minutes significantly increased SEV recovery compared to the standard 25 minutes https://lnkd.in/esVxmGT4 Overall, their optimised UC protocol demonstrated greater time efficiency and recovered more SEVs than Exoquick-TC, while also preserving RNA quality and quantity and reducing SEV separation time.
