Our Social Impact Solutions engagements allow employees to develop their professional skills in a new context, improving their sense of belonging and positive mental well-being, whilst supporting charities and local communities. Last year we partnered with Princeton Alumni UK to run a Flash Consulting engagement with local London charities. Dean Menegas, President of the Princeton Alumni Association UK, was surprised by the experience encouraging him to really drill down into what he could bring to the event by way of skills and experience. Feeding back post-event: “It was much more of a personal learning experience than expected. I ended up understanding more about my own skills … drawing links in what I had done more than I had done in the past, and being able to more clearly articulate what my experiences and my skills were because I had to describe them to someone else. Ethical recruitment doesn't stop once a candidate starts their new job. Your new member of staff is going to need support, training, and time to get to grips with new systems etc. I am no fan of the phrase 'hit the ground running' in recruitment - how about 'stand still and learn the ropes until you feel confident to walk and we will support you to fly'? If you don't look after your new recruit they will leave (and there are plenty of other charities looking for good fundraisers right now) and you will be back to square one. We talk about 'supporter journeys' and 'lifetime value' when it comes to donors - what if we applied this to fundraising teams? Staff retention is everything which is an odd thing for a recruiter to say but it's true! #ethicalrecruitment #fundraisingjobs #charityjobs
