Bright roads ahead

Bangalore International Centre stands in the middle of the city in Bangalore, a stone's throw away from my place, a great example of what #impactinvesting looks like. A place to foster informed dialogues, it serves as a great location for mindful conversations and events. Impact investing has long been thought of as something high net worth individuals do. The general thought process is that one makes money, so much money that #philanthropy becomes a tax saving instrument and then they go around building schools and hospitals. Not anymore. The landscape of impact investing has been changing for some time. GIIN (Global Impact Investor Network)'s 2020 report shows that most investors expect competitive market-rate returns. And the best part is, they get what they expect. As you can see in the graph, 70% of the investors get returns on both impact and financial expectations. Quoting from the report - "The impact investing industry is full of success stories: stories about impact investors thinking differently about the power of their capital, stories about entrepreneurs with exciting new ideas, and stories about the end consumers who benefit from fresh solutions." Stretching the #mindfulness and #consciouspractices from plastics and waste management to investments thus is not just an aspirational but a practical idea.
