A small, specialized tool used for underwater acoustic reconnaissance and surveillance is called a sonobuoy. It is an essential tool for scientific oceanography research as well as naval and maritime operations. Usually, they are launched into the ocean from ships or airplanes. When they are deployed, they sink to a preset depth at which point they start to send out acoustic signals and gather data on underwater sound. Sonar pings, underwater communications, and background noise are a few examples of these signals. What is common about airplanes, rockets, submarines, and 𝐛𝐥𝐮𝐞-𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐝𝐞𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐲𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 ? They all go to great lengths to prevent failures. And they do that using redundancy.
