🌎 More than 150 scientists from around the world with expertise in per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) have co-signed a new statement urging governmental bodies to adopt a science-based “at least one fully fluorinated carbon atom” definition of PFAS that includes fluorinated (f)-gases and trifluoroacetic acid (TFA), an atmospheric byproduct of certain f-gases. 📝 The statement, which is still open to additional signatures from PFAS scientists, underscores “the necessity for government agencies and legislatures to adopt complete PFAS definitions grounded in science without political interference.” 👉 Read more: https://lnkd.in/dRpkA_48 #GoNatRefs #PFAS #Fgas #TFA US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Marc Chasserot, Michael Garry, Thomas Trevisan, Jan Dusek Sign up to our weekly newsletter for the latest R744 products and news. https://lnkd.in/dMh3VVZ

🌊❗ The amount of #PFAS ‘forever chemicals’ released by ocean spray may be even greater than those generated by industrial discharges, according to a new study published in Science. > Stockholm University researchers say that decades-old PFAS which have found their way into the oceans from numerous sources are “remobilized to the air in 𝘀𝗲𝗮 𝘀𝗽𝗿𝗮𝘆 𝗮𝗲𝗿𝗼𝘀𝗼𝗹𝘀 (SSAs).” > And field experiments in the Atlantic Ocean led them to conclude that PFAS SSA emissions were “comparable to or greater than the contributions of other sources such as industrial plants." 💬“Even if we completely stop the use of PFAS right now, we will still have this circulation between the air and seawater,” warned Bo Sha, an environmental chemist and lead author of the study. 💡 LGC Standards offers more than 300 PFAS #ReferenceMaterials – over 180 of them are ISO 17034 or ISO 17025 accredited: https://okt.to/Y1J86n ☑ and a #PT sample to support PFOS and PFOA analysis in water: https://okt.to/pM6vy8 #PFAStesting #ScienceForASaferWorld

The PFAS Annihilator helping to clean the environment of forever chemicals. PFAS (polyfluoroalkyl substances) are defined by the CDC as group of chemicals used to make fluoropolymer coatings and products that resist heat, oil, stains, grease, and water. Commonly, PFAS are used in clothing, furniture, adhesives, food packaging, heat resistant non-stick surfaces and insulation of electrical wire according to the CDC. The concern is that PFAS does not break down in the environment, can move through soils and contaminate water sources, and build up in fish and wildlife. Your facts for the day and score one for Mother Nature. #Battelle #PFAS #CDC #MotherNature
We're gratified to learn that we're fifth on the Fortune 2023 #ChangetheWorld list. The magazine recognized Battelle for the development of the PFAS Annihilator® technology, the first-to-market technology that safely destroys #PFAS) or “forever chemicals,” without any harmful byproducts.
