Multitasking is a lie. Do you want your heart surgeon to multitask? No. Do you want your pilot to multitask? No. You know why. Because you want to live. Research has shown us that our brains aren't suited for simultaneous processing of multiple tasks that require conscious attention. When we try to do this, our cognitive resources are divided, leading to a decrease in overall performance and efficiency. This can result in lower-quality work, increased errors, and higher levels of stress and fatigue. None of which sounds like something you want to sign up for. So don't. Stop multitasking. Block your time. Focus on what's important first.

Is multitasking a good thing? While multitasking seems like a great way to get a lot done at once, research has shown that our brains are not nearly as good at handling multiple tasks as we like to think they are. In fact, some research suggests that multitasking can actually hamper your productivity by reducing your comprehension, attention, and overall performance. Stoic advice for completing tasks is to focus on one thing at a time until it's done. In the technology era, many believe multitasking makes things go faster, but it really just crowds your mind with a thousand different thoughts. #productivity #Stoicism #focus Visium Resources, Inc.

Many people fall into the multitasking trap, which gives us the false sense that we are productive. But despite how efficient it may feel, research tells a different story. Instead, what we perceive as multitasking is actually rapid task-switching, which depletes cognitive resources without us even realizing it. So, while it might seem like we're accomplishing more, in reality, we're just spreading ourselves thin and in all likelihood, being two to three times slower. Contrary to our socially accepted default, our brains aren't designed to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, just as an electric current along one wire cannot flow in two directions simultaneously. I increased my daily concentration by 41% with this small trick. Visualise a task before doing it. Here’s how: 1. pick the task (e.g sending 30 emails, finishing a project etc) 2. close your eyes 3. create a vivid mental image of yourself doing and completing the task or movement 4. make it as real as possible with detail 5. then feel how you want to feel doing it (don't miss this) 6. open your eyes 7. do it. In this visualisation, you activate the same areas of the brain as if it were actually doing the task. The mind now knows what it needs to do and finds it easier. You will be: -quicker -sharper -more focused. Try it with one of your tasks today. P.s for optimum results, do the visualisation for 4 mins. ♻ share with a friend or colleague so they can smash their tasks too

I love Zoom. It allows me to work from home where I created an environment that really suits me. But .. sometimes there is too much even of a good thing ❓ How to deal with Zoom fatigue? The paper below provides some thoughts I personally find 2 things very helpful: 🙂 I don't use my camera for participating at webinars and talks (saves a lot of my energy) 🙂 When I use my camera - for coaching sessions and meetings - I always make sure I am comfortable: 👉 I change my laptop position and sit differently than when writing, which also helps me to focus in a different way; 👉 make sure I have enough to drink, and all I need within my reach 👉 and a well adjusted external camera on my laptop so I am happy with my background and can only focus on the person I am speaking with 🙂 What works for you? Any tips? #zoom #workfromhome #research #coaching #worklifebalance https://lnkd.in/e6pHwY_S
