#LinkedIn #JobSearch #CyberCoders #DataHarvesting Hey everyone! I wanted to bring something up that’s been really bugging me lately. Can we rally together and figure out if there's a way to mass report companies like Cyber Coders, Jobot, gpac, Talentify.io, and Insight Global on LinkedIn? 😤 Every time I check for job opportunities, these companies dominate the search results, and frankly, it's frustrating. Here's why I think this is such a big issue: Flooded Search Results: It feels impossible to find the actual job listings I’m interested in because these companies keep taking over all the slots. 😩 Data Harvesting Concerns: I've heard from others that they apply over and over but never hear back. It really makes you wonder if these companies are simply collecting our information instead of genuinely trying to fill roles. 🤔 No Option to Block: I’ve tried blocking them, but that's not even an option! It would be great if we could filter out companies that aren’t real players in t... Is Mass Reporting LinkedIn's Cyber Coders Necessary for Job Seekers? 3 Phrases to Avoid in Your LinkedIn Headline: "Seeking new opportunities." "Available for work." "Aspiring..." Why? These terms don't provide recruiters or hiring managers with the specific keywords needed to find you. Consider these examples of impactful headlines: "PenTester | Red Team | eJPT | CEH | Top 1% on Try Hack Me | Strengthening security for businesses." "Business Analyst | Business Development | Supporting companies to boost revenue." "Security Analyst | CEH | CRISC | Safeguarding critical assets for organizations." Remember, LinkedIn functions like a search engine. To increase your visibility in search results. Use appropriate keywords in your profile. Use this framework for future reference: 2-3 desired role names 2-3 certification name Your value proposition Do you have a unique LinkedIn approach for job seeking? Ron Sharon

Since starting my recent job search, I’ve noticed an increase in the spam/ phishing e-mails I receive. ⚠ I use certain tips and tricks, to be as careful as possible, when subscribing to anything, so I start to think the timing is not coincidental… Then, I come across GhostJobs.io, a “community-driven platform … to identify, report, and sidestep suspicious or misleading job postings”. Unfortunately, it looks like the posting of fake jobs has become prolific. Whether it be to elevate a company’s status, increase traffic to their sites, or data mining for nefarious reasons, this is now an additional hurdle to navigate, for all those (exhausted) jobseekers out there. 🕵♀️ 🕵♂️ There needs to be tighter controls and transparency in the job market. Until then, we can continue to support, and learn from, our peers. Please share to drive this community’s initiative – there’s power in numbers. 👻 👻 👻 #ghostjobs #jobseekers #datamining #transparency #community

Nathan Chung start using #cyberjobs for the following titles too (they're all better cyber job titles than anything you;ve ever tagged to date) Software quality assurance analyst UI (user interface) designer UX (user experience) designer Help desk support specialist IT support specialist Network architect Systems analyst IT coordinator Network administrator Network engineer Service desk analyst System administrator Database administrator Database analyst Business intelligence analyst Business systems analyst Data analyst Data analytics developer Data modeling analyst Back-end developer Cloud/software architect Cloud/software developer DevOps engineer Front-end developer Full-stack developer (programming language) developer/engineer Platform engineer Release manager Reliability engineer Software engineer Enterprise architect IT systems architect Solutions architect Technical architect Plus any other I.T. job that exists without the word cyber or security in it - because those are reserved for people who are the "surgeon" level experience, or "Commercial pilot" or insert any other industry job title that requires experience Entry and mid level "cyber" jobs don't exist If you think we need mroe people trained in cyber/security I AGREE If everyone is trained, there will be ZERO job titles that include cyber or security Because everyone is cyber/security aware, the temporary finger pointer job titles in cyber/security aren't necessary any more because everyone with cyber/security skills are doing "real" job securely now (what a world!) Want to be a trainee co-pilot or wear scrubs in a cyber job? Go get some experience in the VERY large list of jobs where you can wear scrubs or co-pilot safely, for you and your employer

Getting a job in Cybersecurity and tech right now is very hard as we are going through one of the most challenging job markets in a generation with too many people chasing too few jobs with approximately 50,000 layoffs in tech this year and an estimated 269,000 layoffs from last year. I was curious as to how many people on LinkedIn were searching for jobs in Cybersecurity in the US. Answer: Approximately 30,000………. I have mentioned this many times during my job hunt: People don’t need more education, THEY NEED JOBS. To help others looking for a job in Cybersecurity, I have been tagging job posts I see with #cyberjobs to make it easier for job seekers to find. Encouraging folks to help out and tag their job posts as well. Please help the legions of people out of work. On the bright side, the number of job postings this week is noticeably higher. To the job seekers, good luck and good hunting! One Year Later: My Cybersecurity Job Search Journey Exactly a year ago today, I decided to pause work and focus on finishing my degree, thinking I’d smoothly transition into the cybersecurity field after graduating. Fast forward to now, and the reality has been a bit different. The job market has been tough—many of my peers are having a hard time finding positions, and I’ve seen layoffs all over the industry. The world of cybersecurity isn’t quite what I expected, but one thing’s for sure: I’m not giving up. Here’s how I’m staying motivated and pushing forward, even with all the challenges: 10+ Applications a Day: Yep, I’ve been applying like crazy! I track every single one in a spreadsheet—keeping tabs on rejections, updates, and feedback. No interviews yet, but hey, maybe that 100th application will be the winner! Spotting Trends: I’ve noticed certain skills and tools keep popping up in job descriptions, like Wireshark and Nessus. While I don’t have field experience with these, I’m teaching myself through videos and TryHackMe labs to build up the skills and confidence I need. Networking (Big Time!): I’ve been setting up at least 3 meetings a week with cybersecurity pros to hear their insights, learn from their journeys, and get feedback on how to level up. I’m always looking to connect with more people in the industry—every conversation helps. Staying Resilient: Despite the ups and downs, I’m still here, pushing forward and ready to put my new skills to work. I’m not just looking for a job, I’m actively building my future. If you’re also navigating a tough job search right now, remember—you’re not alone. Keep applying, keep learning, and keep connecting. We’ve got this! #CybersecurityJourney #KeepLearning #NetworkingWorks #JobSearchReality #NeverGiveUp #CyberCommunity
