We are People on a Planet — and responsible to both. At Aritzia, Community encompasses the social and environmental contributions we make to the people and surrounding environments across our value chain and workplaces. And we’re committed to continuously working to accelerate our positive impact. To capture the progress we’ve made, we’ve published our third annual Aritzia Community™ | ESG Report, which highlights our efforts throughout Fiscal 2024, towards achieving the goals that guide us forward. Speaking of goals. This past year we appointed our first-ever Chief Impact Officer, Renée E. Tirado, who will oversee the full scope of our Community initiatives — supporting our People, our Planet and our future vision, which includes a roadmap to guide us forward — as we continue to create A Better Everyday. Over the weekend I was proud to release our latest SDG Impact Report. At the halfway point to the 2030 Agenda, we are all taking stock of what has been achieved and what still needs to be done to achieve the #SDGs. In 2022, the average SDG impact score across the 17 goals was 53. This means the industry achieved 53% of its potential contribution to the SDGs – up from 33% in 2015. While much has been achieved, we still have lots more to do to get on track to achieving the SDGs. Our latest report looks at some of the key areas we need to focus our efforts as an industry 👉 gsma.com/SDGs

Maria Petousis will bring #PlanetPeopleProfit in context with insights into her topic: 'Bridging The Gap Between ESG Goals And Consumer Concerns.' In today's global business landscape, the integration of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) strategies has become imperative for companies striving for sustainability and societal impact (Daugaard & Ding, 2022). However, this paradigm shift towards responsible corporate practices requires careful consideration of local contexts, particularly in developing economies such as South Africa. This session aims to delve into the complexities of formulating ESG strategies tailored to the socio-economic realities of the South African market. There are only a few days left to book your seat. Each year in July, the United Nations High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) meets to follow up on and review the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This year, we’ve compiled a list of some of our recent open access sustainability articles, to show instances of how research is helping achieve each one of the UN's SDGs. From “no poverty” and “zero hunger” to “life below water” and “life on land”, take a read to find research that highlights many of the problems facing society, and offers solutions with case studies and discussions of policy impact: https://lnkd.in/edpy6v6g Browse Sustainable Development Goals Online (SDGO), a carefully curated interdisciplinary collection of digital content mapped to the United Nations’ SDGs: https://lnkd.in/eUw8Gv86 #SDGs #OpenAccess #ResearchImpact

Around the same time last year, I had the pleasure to listen to Pedro Conceição discuss Human Development report 2022/23 and the key recommendations surrounding innovation, insurance and investment. The HDR 2023-24 underscores the need for economic reforms to align with sustainable and equitable development goals, highlighting that progress toward SDGs is uneven and hindered by significant challenges, including setbacks from the COVID-19 pandemic, escalating climate change impacts, and widening inequalities. The report calls for inclusive growth that ensures equitable opportunities for all, integration of environmental sustainability in economic planning, expanded social protection, and harnessing technology and innovation responsibly. The report emphasizes on the need for increased global cooperation and financial support, particularly for developing countries, to overcome these challenges and create a resilient, sustainable future for everyone.

In 2015, the countries of the United Nations made a universal promise: to leave no one behind in the pursuit of a peaceful and prosperous world by 2030. This promise forms the very foundation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), our roadmap to a better future – one where economic prosperity, social well-being and environmental protection go hand in hand. #GlobalGoalsWeek is our annual opportunity to demonstrate how we are turning this promise into action and accountability. We join our over 150 partners spanning civil society, business, academia and the UN system, with a shared commitment to accelerate progress on the SDGs. But this week is more than just a gathering; it's a platform for change. I’m very excited to be attending the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) next week. This will be a unique opportunity to collaborate with global leaders, exchange valuable insights, cultivate groundbreaking ideas and solutions, and build partnerships with the power to tackle complex global problems head-on, ultimately driving meaningful change and action on the SDGs. This is the essence of Global Goals Week – when the entire SDG community comes together with determination and innovation, there's no challenge too great to overcome. Together, we can take meaningful steps towards a more sustainable, equitable and prosperous world by 2030, turning promises into progress.
