Humans of Support 0️⃣1️⃣5️⃣ Behind every support ticket is a person. Every Friday, we feature someone in support who inspires us. Today, we're featuring Daniel Haslam, Technical Support Manager at Robin. We met Dan through the Support Driven community, and we're excited to share his story 👇 ❓ What inspired you to pursue a career in support? Like many people, I didn't enter a Tech Support career with a lot of intention. After graduating, I knew the type of technology and company I wanted to work with, and I felt I had the right skill set to do well in support. It turns out I was correct, and helping customers solve problems felt really good. So, I turned it into a career. 🥇 What company has recently really impressed you with the quality of their support? I recently became a dog parent for the first time and have been amazed by Chewy's support. There was one instance where I ordered the wrong size crate. Chewy sent the correct size free of charge, donated the extra crate to a dog in need, and even sent us a hand-painted portrait of my pup. That painting now hangs in my living room and serves as a reminder of the excellent experiences I've had with Chewy's service. 📝 What’s your top tip for staying up to date with the product you’re supporting? As a manager, you're not required to field product questions regularly, but I believe in using our product every day. I like to jump into the customer support queue now and then to ensure I don't get rusty and to stay connected with the day-to-day operations. This helps me remain grounded and aware of the current customer experiences and challenges.

As software engineers, it's often easy to not look the "other way" (towards the client and the business) 👀 And sometimes - this is OK. We need to make sure we do our direct line of work effectively 🔨 Yet, as we grow in our career, we should be looking more "the other way" 🧐 There's a client. And there's a business value. And once we are on the radar - we need to learn how to effectively manage our relationship with those clients ✨ So - how do you deal, when it comes to client communication? #software #softwaredevelopment #softwareengineering #clients #clientrelationships #clientrelationship

Happy New Year! 🎉 I’m kicking off 2024 on support rotation, a core practice at Assembled since day one. It’s gone through several iterations, and today, everyone from the company, irrespective of their role, covers a 3-hour shift on the support queue once a quarter. For me, doing support is my favorite way to stay in touch with our product and customers. Today's shift deepened my understanding of our AI-powered agent assist product — which helped me bridge several product knowledge gaps — and also highlighted the complexities of some of our data features. I came away with more conviction in improving our internal and external documentation, a topic that several teams ended 2023 thinking about. Plus, I managed to resolve a few customer issues! As we grow, maintaining this practice becomes increasingly challenging, but the benefits are unmistakable. It's more than a responsibility; it's a core expression of our cultural value of “acting like a support agent.” Assemblers come out of rotation with fresh ideas, insights, and empathy for the challenges our users face. If you're considering implementing support rotation, Lexi De Veaux wrote a great article at the start of last year: https://lnkd.in/gx78YxV5. I also often refer to this classic post from Wade Foster at Zapier, whose team has generally been an inspiration to Assembled: https://lnkd.in/gRXTk4Va. And if you're looking for direct advice, please don't hesitate to reach out. Here’s to a fantastic 2024, filled with exceptional and efficient customer support!

Fed up of working with recruiters who promise the world then don't call you back? Perhaps you've been let down throughout the interview process with lack of information and support? Or maybe, just maybe, you're sick of your recruiter talking more than they listen, rambling on about how "great" their one opportunity is and not really listening to your wants and needs? Here's a 5* review from someone I helped into a role that they genuinely thought was out of reach for them. Countless calls with interview advice, inside information about the company and regularly boosting their confidence by coaching them to lead with their strengths whilst being honest about their areas of improvement - they got the job. If you're looking for a new role in the tech space, especially software development, and you answered yes to one of the top 3 questions - let's chat 🤝 Thanks to the candidates and customers over the last 5 weeks 💚 ----------------------------------------------- Place. 🚀 We partner with AMBITIOUS software companies and build WORLD CLASS teams that produce OUTSIZED RESULTS. 💌 DM if you think we might be able to help you too. 📩 [email protected]
What's it like working with in partnership with a consultancy that cares? Take a look 👇 We're happy to share a 5* review we received recently from a software developer who our founder Kieran O'Connor helped into their dream role.
