For our first collaboration, I shadowed Marcus during several meetings in his role as the SPS booth manager.
Simultaneously, it was lots of fun and learning to take over his social media publications during the virtual trade show week.
💡 ACTIVE job shadowing instead of just being a quiet shadow

Back onsite in Nürnberg at SPS 2022, Marcus took me along to all his appointments – be it with clients, partners, or former and current top managers of Siemens.
Without exception, he introduced me to VIP personalities as both his right-hand in social media and as a shadowee.
💡 I learned a ton of helpful tips/ recommendations/ information from such encounters.
𝐒𝐏𝐒 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟑: 𝐅𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐝𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐝𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐝
It was Marcus's and Silke Graf's brainchild to have Annina Schön accompany me as a shadowee last year. I was immediatly wow-ed by this idea, so 𝗮 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗲-𝗹𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗱𝗼𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗽𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗻.
Following the blueprint of our earlier years, we collaborated closely, based on feedback culture, learning from one another, and yielding results surpassing what we would have achieved individually.
💡 Job shadowing doesn’t have to be 1:1. It can be 1:1:1 or 1:2 as well.

It's been an amazing first day at #Automate2024! And what a show it has been! From extended lines in registration to seeing some of the biggest trends in Automation and Robotics to meeting up with dear friends, this first day of Automate Show has been one for the books!
One of the biggest takeaways from day one for me has to be centered around 𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞. I know a lot of you caught the conversation from the #AutomateLive interview that we had this morning with Travis Miller of Miller Resource Group. However, some of the best conversations that transpire from these events are the ad hoc conversations that you have when meeting up with online connections in real life.
For me, one of my favorite highlights was catching up with the folks at the Phoenix Contact booth and listening to some shares from Zachary Stank about the innovative ways that set Phoenix apart from him when he was in the job market. Here's some of those key takeaways that I thought I would share:
1️⃣. 𝐈𝐧𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐢𝐧. Replacing traditional job fairs with open houses is next level recruitment strategy in my book.
2️⃣. 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐲 𝐡𝐮𝐦𝐛𝐥𝐞. Great leaders don't always have to talk about titles.
3️⃣. 𝐃𝐨𝐧'𝐭 𝐣𝐮𝐝𝐠𝐞 𝐚 𝐛𝐨𝐨𝐤 𝐛𝐲 𝐢𝐭'𝐬 𝐜𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫. Let people be people. A little flexibility goes a long way.
