The UK's controversial Rwanda scheme is finally scrapped. But there's more work to do. Here's what we need from the new government: ✅ End the policy of not processing claims on arrival ✅ Create safe, legal routes to prevent perilous journeys ✅ Tackle the backlog of cases, ensuring fair and prompt decisions 🕊️ Seeking asylum is a human right.

The House of Lords has dealt a series of blows to the Rwanda Bill this week, voting that the policy must comply fully with domestic and international law before being enacted. Parliament can't declare Rwanda safe until promised safety measures are fully implemented. But the truth remains: the UK should not be sending vulnerable people anywhere. Instead, the government should scrap this cruel plan and deliver an effective asylum system. It's time for something better. These cruel policies cost lives, as evidenced by recent tragic losses. When will the government prioritise humanity and ensure refugees receive the safety they deserve? Let's make it clear: the division and hostility pushed by this government do not represent us. Note to HM Government: Creating a law that simply says Rwanda is a safe country for asylum seekers does not make it safe. Unless you know something that those with lived experience of the regime don’t. Take the estimated 3 billion pounds of public money that will be spent shoring up the Rwanda pipe dream and deploy it in a more useful fashion to deal with the people coming off small boats in an efficient but humane and civilised way. P.S. If we give Rwandans asylum in the UK - what implications does that have for the assertion that the country is “safe”?

Rwanda Bill is a sham. We have no choice but to leave the #ECHR The lesson from this sorry saga is that there can be no more half measures, especially when it comes to the security of British citizens is concerned. Twenty-two weeks after supposedly “emergency legislation” was announced to deliver the Rwanda scheme, the Safety of Rwanda Bill has still not become an Act. Half-measures, delays and procrastination continue to run their course. It has emerged that, instead of focusing on mass enforced removals, Government will offer those who have flagrantly broken our laws £3,000 to leave the UK for Rwanda. The policy intent seems to have changed from creating a robust and sustainable deterrent to delivering some symbolic flights. https://lnkd.in/eJQzJ3D5

We shouldn't stand on the sidelines of such an epoch moment for Kenya! The rights and freedom of expression remain basic and non negotiable. The government shouldn't listen but demonstrate having heard the very salient issues raised by Kenyans. To suppress Citizens when we all want good for our country makes it a patriotic duty to ask that we #RejectFinanceBill2024.

Sadly, leadership across the political space fails (or perhaps refuses) to understand what is the real "con" here. The dismal and disastrous fraud perpetrated upon the British public is far greater and deeper than the PM's miserable scheme for expelling some people to Rwanda. The real swindle is the pretence that the UK can absent itself from reality, and the obligations that come with that, by somehow dissuading anyone from ever again fleeing to the UK to escape persecution at home by a policy of simply refusing to consider the claim of anyone who does. Correct that swindle and there is no Rwanda deal, no Illegal Migration Act, none of the myriad other cruel, expensive and degrading measures all introduced over the last three years to somehow give the appearance that what is false can be made true. Fail to correct it and the consequences of trying to cheat reality will continue to be damaging - whether the Rwanda deal is abandoned (which it must be) or not. https://lnkd.in/eGw-sXHr

❕New developments on the Rwanda plan On December 7th, a bill challenging the UK Supreme Court's decision on the safety of refugees in Rwanda was introduced in Parliament. Despite the Supreme Court ruling against the Rwanda plan highlighting safety risks and a breach of the non-refoulment principle, the bill aims to officially declare Rwanda as a safe country. The bill also aims to further limit the Court's intervention in cases of removal. Earlier this week, The Government's controversial Rwanda Bill returned to Parliament. MPs are now engaged in debate and will have a final vote on the dangerous legislation before the end of the month. The Government has stated that it wants to get the legislation through as soon as possible so that flights to Rwanda can begin. We can’t allow The Government to position itself above the law and jeopardise the rule of law and the safety of vulnerable people. Every person, including survivors of modern slavery and trafficking, deserves safety. 📢 Email your MP now and call on them to defend the rights of people who need safety: https://lnkd.in/e-m36VR4

https://lnkd.in/e9eRkwdH This Rwanda agenda is the biggest bullshit bill they trying to get passed. One must understand why it is Bullshit and why this clown keeps pushing for it. So here is the lowdown! Current UK situation in terms of holding prisoners is maxed out, they do not have any room, they are struggling. Therefore if this bill is passed those who do not in future comply with the fascism that the UK is heading into (unless the UK public wake up and can read between the lines) then those individuals will be sent to Rwanda. Why Rwanda well you need to look abit deeper to understand why this location is chosen and why its been funded so deep... Rwanda doesn't fall into EU law hence therefore all sorts of abuse can go on. You see these evil people are so easy to read, one must be able to expose these agendas and show the true picture.
