Today, we are proud to release the 21st edition of Philanthropy's Response to HIV and AIDS — the industry’s most comprehensive study of HIV-related grantmaking. This year's report reveals a 6% decline in philanthropic funding for HIV between 2021 and 2022, the largest single-year decrease since 2017. The decline in #philanthropy disproportionately impacts several historically underserved communities and highlights stark inequities in distribution. For the 39 million people living with #HIV worldwide, there has never been a more critical time for more donors — public and private alike — to commit to the HIV response. Join FCAA in mobilizing philanthropy’s effort to end the epidemic. Read Philanthropy’s Response to HIV and AIDS today: https://lnkd.in/e-ukaBV8

This year, I am thrilled to share that I am participating as a crew member for Cycle for a Cause, an incredible program run by the Center..Taking place in Sept 2024 - This event is more than just a cycling challenge; it's a powerful movement to support our community and I am honored to be a part of it. As I embark on this journey, I am reaching out to you, my friends and family, to help me achieve a personal fundraising goal of $3000. Your generous support will make a significant impact, providing vital resources and assistance to those who need it most. Every dollar raised goes directly towards medical research, community support, education programs, etc. Your contribution will not only help me reach my goal but also bring hope and positive change to countless lives. Right now, there are more than 1.2 million Americans living with HIV. With your help The Center can provide help accessing PrEP (a daily pill that can block the transmission of HIV), PEP (a pill that, when taken after being potentially exposed to HIV, helps prevent infection), and other prevention methods. Every dollar makes a difference. $1,000, The Center can provide three young people with individual support services for one year. $600, The Center can provide one young person with substance use recovery services for one month. $250, The Center can provide a person with a comprehensive needs assessment and referral services. People in the LGBTQ+ community, people of color, and people with lower incomes are disproportionately affected. Here’s the truth: in order to end AIDS, it will take a commitment from people like us to do something meaningful and visible to raise the money and support needed to finally end this epidemic. Here’s how you can help: Donate: Any amount, big or small, brings us closer to our goal. You can make a secure donation online through my fundraising page Share: Spread the word by sharing my fundraising page with your network. Every share increases our reach and brings us closer to our goal. Join: If you're inspired, join us! Participate as a rider or crew member, or volunteer your time and talents to support the event next year. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for considering a donation. Your generosity and kindness are truly appreciated. *All donations are tax-deductible and you can even spread out a larger donation as monthly gifts, so please be generous. Every single dollar goes directly to the beneficiary organization, The Center, to help fund their critical HIV/AIDS programs.*

So I know I’ve been remiss. All summer I’ve been focused on work and AWS and not talking about on of the most important things I’m going to to do this year: 𝐂𝐲𝐜𝐥𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞. Now this isn’t to say I haven’t been training - I froze my fingers off on the ride I’m going to link this post to but I haven’t been posting and without fundraising well.. I’m not really 𝐶𝑦𝑐𝑙𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑓𝑜𝑟 𝑎 𝐶𝑎𝑢𝑠𝑒, I’m just cycling aren’t I? So, with just over 1 week left before embarking on this epic, epic 3-day cycling journey from Boston, MA to New York City, I’m asking y’all - my amazing network to pitch in and help me out. More than 1.2 million Americans living with HIV and someone new is infected every 16 minutes. New infections people in the LGBTQ+ community, people of color, and people with lower incomes disproportionately impacted. I’ve seen the impact being HIV positive has on folks and trust me: even with access to high-quality health care, dealing with the stigma, discrimination, and long term side-effects from HIV medication is no walk in the park. Without great health insurance, the cost of life saving medication alone can run into the thousands per month. This is why I ride in Cycle for the Cause, the NorthEast AIDSRide, benefitting the HIV Treatment and Prevention Services at The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center. Each year the Center helps tens of thousands of New Yorkers get life changing, often life saving, care which would not be possible without folks like you helping me: • 𝐃𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 $𝟐𝟓𝟎 - 𝓷𝓸𝓽 𝓮𝓿𝓮𝓷 $1 𝓹𝓮𝓻 𝓶𝓲𝓵𝓮 - Allows The Center to provide a person with a comprehensive needs assessment and referral services getting them access to comprehensive no-cost and low-cost care and guiding them through the complexities of gaining and maintaining health coverage. • 𝐃𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 $𝟔𝟎𝟎 - Allows The Center can provide a young person with in-person and virtual mental health counseling sessions and recovery services for one month. • 𝐖𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐚 𝐝𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 $𝟏,𝟎𝟎𝟎 - The Center can provide one person with PEP (a pill that, when taken after being exposed to HIV, helps prevent infection), PrEP (a daily pill that can block the transmission of HIV), or other prevention methods. No amount is too big or small, literally every dollar helps. It will help your fellow Americans, it will help inspire me as I’m riding all those miles, it will help you because you’ll know you just made the world a better place. It will help! https://lnkd.in/gSfDDurP Oh and here's that training video I promised: https://lnkd.in/edeyemgj

March is Women’s History Month. We believe it is vital to commemorate and encourage the study, observance and celebration of the critical role of women in American history. Women have been systemically excluded from HIV and AIDS advocacy, treatment, and research. GMHC believes we share the onus to change that. At the beginning of the AIDS epidemic, women were excluded from clinical trials of medication and preventative measures—it took activism from women leaders to lobby the CDC to redefine its case definition for HIV/AIDS to be more inclusive of women. In our Women’s Care, Prevention and Support Services, we focus on the diverse needs of women living with and affected by HIV and AIDS through individual counseling and support groups. We serve women who are recently diagnosed with HIV, have been living with HIV for years, or are long-time survivors. Our comprehensive services are designed to support both physical and mental health—and meet women where they are in their journey. We can provide help with housing, food, and employment, which are crucial to staying healthy. Prevention is a major focus of our services for women. We lead prevention programs for women who are HIV-negative. The vast majority of our services are open to women. This month we will be shining a spotlight on women leaders who have led the fight as well what we at GMHC are doing to ensure access to care and prevention services for women.

Very distressing resource gaps at the time when we need press acceleration to get back on track with HIV targets. All most all key, vulnerable and underserved populations are at the bottom of this philanthropy AIDS funding tracker. Yooo, for women and girls who represent 53% of the world’s people living with HIV (PLWH)—declined by 45% in 2022, marking its lowest level in six years. The AIDS funding inequities by region, population and even amounts of money between regions is extremely alarming.
