You know what would make my life better? If I took my own advice. I was just listening to a presentation I gave at Meeting Professionals International World Education Congress (WEC) this year about burnout, and I realized that I wasn't doing any of the things I told the audience to do. If you've been following my journey, you will know that I just finished writing my first book, and it is in the editing phase (yay!). During the last writing push, I saw my burnout markers, waved to them, and then kept going way past them. Ya girl battled the burnout monster and lost. As soon as I added in just one of the items I spoke about in this video, I started to feel better. Then, I got crazy and added in another, and then another. I vanquished the burnout monster with ease. I am finally on my way back from the kind of burnout that starts to make your joints hurt, but I am still a bit disappointed in myself for knowing better and not doing better. Do you ever kick yourself for not following your own advice? Are you ever the "sage on stage" and then the hard-headed apprentice who doesn't follow the sage's advice at the same time? Spill the details in the comments. #burnout #professionalspeaker #corporatemeetingplanner #author

Aleya Harris, CPCE Thanks for truly sharing your experience. I empathize with you because I too suffered from an autoimmune skin condition and immense fatigue due to burnout from working and then working on Deiya Health. The WOOP plan is incredibly important and thanks for explaining the key elements. I'm definitely incorporating this into my life.

Honestly, I know what you mean. I am always advising people on breaks for sleep and rest and do I forget my own rest breaks and wonder why my brain is so tired? Yes, yes I do.

Aleya Harris, CPCE, I can totally relate to the struggle of not following my own advice. It's a tough pill to swallow, but it's comforting to know I'm not alone.

So so true Aleya Harris, CPCE - totally resonate with that! I've now made the habit of listening back to talks I give to audiences and I take notes on where I'm not listening to my own advice! Somehow it seems like it's often easier to 'see the answers for others' and advise someone else else than it is to give ourselves a reality check and follow our own advice!
