Our latest Breakfast roundtable with the Warren Partners Financial Services Practice was a great success (despite the views from the 42nd floor being hidden by the mist!). We were joined by 14 CFOs from various financial services firms for an insightful and diverse discussion. Hosted by Ian Durant, former CFO and current FTSE Non-Executive Chair of Britvic, we dived into the question: "What makes a great CFO in the eyes of a Chair?". Welcome to 2024: The year of the Office of the CFO I've been told that now that it's February I'm not allowed to say Happy New Year, so I'll just say hi and welcome. As Australia breathes a collective sigh of relief as parents send their children back to school, and also a cringe of frustration as school zones (necessarily) slow down our daily commute, it is wonderful to have the office humming and our communities buzzing. Whether you have had a long break like myself, or worked straight through, I welcome you to 2024: The Year of the Office of the CFO. It's already shaping up to big a challenging year, full of growth mandates in a context of great uncertainty and even greater complexity. But what I do know is that there is a rising tide of CFOs ready to stand shoulder to shoulder with their CEOs to steer the ship. I also know that CEOs and Boards are raising the bar and demanding more from their CFOs...and so they should. There is another a group of stakeholders critical to CFOs that are often overlooked and I look forward to digging into that more over the course of the year with you.
