Sadly, full-mouth dental rehabilitation under general anesthesia in the operating room (OR) does not offer long-term protection against the development of additional oral disease in the pediatric population. In fact, 57% of children in this study needed further dental treatment within a two-year timeframe! During a recent dental conference I attended, it was mentioned that pediatric OR visits can range from $10,000 to $20,000. Consider that fee and the cost of additional care needed within only a 2-year period. We are at a crucial juncture where we must collectively embrace change. Fortunately, we have the materials and possess the understanding of how to change. I’ve been asked why a manufacturing company would help spearhead the building and servicing of a dental unit. Well, here’s why.
