Tropical Storm Ernesto is battering Puerto Rico. Team Rubicon is there. Back in September 2017, Hurricane Maria struck Puerto Rico. In the wake of the devastation, Team Rubicon rebuilt over 500 roofs to the highest standards. This #investment was made possible by supporters like GAF and the Steven & Alexandra Cohen Foundation, along with a strong partnership with #FEMA, St Vincent dePaul, and contractors throughout the island. In a year, the team built over 500 hurricane rated roofs that keep families dry and protected from the storms year after year. Watch to see how we did it. As a “#for_impact” organization, TR is dedicated to expressing gratitude to those who invest in our mission. Unlike simply donating, investing signifies a long-term commitment where the funds continue to make a positive impact into the future. #INVESTMENT: Our volunteers keep enhancing their skills and abilities, returning each year to help those in need. Creating Stronger Teams: Lessons from Hurricane Preparedness It's super important for us to value our community, professionally and personally. Moving to Babcock Ranch after the destruction caused by Hurricane Ian showed me the power of tight-knit communities. In times of need, people helping people is a beautiful sight. Just like here in Babcock Ranch, we can take this lesson into our workplaces too. It’s essential for teams to communicate and collaborate. Let’s break those silos, reach across departments, and foster cooperation. Remember, we’re here to support each other, both in good times and challenging ones. But let's not forget to take care of ourselves first. We need to be mindful of our limits to truly be there for others without burning out. Let’s strive for balance, maintaining positive energy while being there for our neighbors and colleagues. Together, we can build a supportive and thriving community. Years ago, during hurricane Irene, we lost 14 tall oaks after a microburst hit our house. Why so many trees? Because they have a lateral root system that was intertwined, so they went down like dominoes. Tree roots take nourishment from the ground, and when one tree is undernourished they ensure it survives. They are the ultimate team. They work together, grow together, and sometimes fall together. For those trees that survived, I was told that the roots would grow towards each other until they were, once again, intertwined, holding hands for nourishment. Teamwork is a commitment to nurture each other so we can grow together, and when we fall, we come together to grow in a new way. #teamwork #team #change #changemanagement #changeleadership
