The better way would be collecting the shoes and produce something really durable, out of it. For example, we have seen a village project where they collected the waste, compressed it, and built it into a bench with clay from the soil. - The bench is durable, holding maybe 50 to 100 years. - No waste water is produced as a byproduct - No cutting of the shoes, no microplastics into the air. - No danger through inhaling the harmful particles for the workers. Good use of human ingenuity 

If one pair of flip flops is produced to last for at least 5 - 7 years, it shall cost 100 dollars. But this way we cut on waste and CO2 production immediately. In oder to change consumption habits of the Planet, offer on the market has to be changed. Fashion industry will help immensly if they start issueing their new collections not by seasons that change every 3 months, but have one season to last minimum 5 years. That way they can focus not on quantity they sell, but on quality. They will still make the same money, even more (since will save on odd design creation and sewing out everytime new collection), but their revenue will come from high prices not from crazy quantity sold #cleantech #femalefounders #womenintech
